San Martín de Porres was a friar born on December 9, 1579, in the Viceroyalty of Peru to
San Martin de Porres was the son of a nobleman from Burgos and of a freed black
woman. He was baptized on December 9, 1579 in the San Sebastián de Lima Church. At
the age of 15 he entered the Order of Santo Domingo de Guzmán. One of his most
important acts that he carried out was that he made a cat, a mouse and a dog eat on the
same plate.
At the age of 69, Martin de Porres fell ill and announced that the time had come for his
departure. He died on November 3, 1963 in the City of Kings, capital of the Viceroyalty of
Peru.
