Brushless A.C Generator
‘on machine provided witha filters atthe ar ile,
the cleaning condition of the fter should be monitored.
In machines having closed-circuit cooling, the ai-to- water
cooler is placed transversely in the top-mounted box in
transverse arrangement, in front ofthe excitation control
unt.
Tha primary cooling ar circulated by the internal fan i e-
cooled in he cooler and passed through the excitation
control unit the excite and the main machine.
Given the necessary provisions, the machine can be
‘adapted for emergency operation wth open circuit
cooling in case of cooing water falure. See pages 46-48
6) Connecting up
Check the system vottage against the data given an the
rating plate. Select the size ofthe supply cables to match
the particular current rating
Connect the machines in accordance with the diagram in
the working crawing
‘Before closing the terminal box, check to see that
+ Its interior is clean and fee from any cable chipnings
+ all terminal screws or bots are tight
+ The minimum clearances in air are maintained
(10 mm for 500 v,>14 mm for 1 kV and > 60 mm
for 6KV; check for any projecting wire ends)
+ Entry openings not in use are closed ot by tem
screwed:in plugs
+ For maintaining the particular degree of protection all
sealing surfaces of the terminal box are in order.
‘Te surtaces of metal-to-metal sealing joints must be
‘leened and thinly regressed,
‘Before staring a machine and during operation make
‘ure that all relevant safety regulations are complied with
7) insulation testing
Hazardous voltage
‘wit case death sors injury, electrocution or propanty
comage.
Disoonnectal power before workerg on this equipment.
‘Before commissioning and after long periods of storage or
standstl the insulation resistance ofthe windings tothe
frame must be measured with D.C. voltage.
‘be net aiscontinue messuramont bofore tha final
resistance valve is indicated (wth high-voltage machines,
‘this process may take up to Iminut).
“The limit values fr minimum insulation resistance and
cial insulation resistance (for measurement at a
winding temperature of 25%) and for measuring voltage
‘can be derive from the folowing table depending on the
rated voltage for the machine.

Bake in oven at temperatures per below table
The Neat should be appied siowly so the desired

Insulation resistance should be measured before the heat
's applied, and every six to eight hours thereate.
