1. Prehistoric art refers to all works of art created by
preliterate, prehistorical cultures beginning at some
point in very recent geological history and generally
continuing until those cultures either discover writing or
other systems of record-keeping or come into close
contact with cultures that have done so and keep some
sort of record of significant historical events. An
illustration of this is the 127 animal and human images
found in the Angono Petroglyphs Cave Paintings in the
province of Rizal, which were designated as a National
Cultural Treasure and a World UNESCO Heritage Site.
2. Native Americans and Fork Art: Fork art is a
subcategory of artwork created by native Americans or
other working-class groups.
3. Art that lacks clearly religious elements or tenets is
considered secular. Art that does so is considered
religious. Religious art also communicates religious
beliefs and realities.
4. Romantic Realism: This term refers to art that
combines elements of romanticism and realism.
5. Modernism and Abstraction: The connection between
modernism and abstraction is so well-established that it
is nearly equivalent.
6. Social Realism: Paintings and prints by artists are
categorized as social realism works.
