Dear future Jamie,

I’m 15 years old, and I am currently sitting in my 9 th grade English class writing this letter. I’m
very stubborn, talkative, energetic, smart, and cautious. I can be very stubborn when it comes to my
friends and friend groups. I may be quiet during class but when I’m around my friends, you would think
I’m a whole different person. I have A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. so I am very energetic and can’t stay still for
long periods of time. I am a fast learner in most subjects besides science and history. I also tend to be
very cautious around people because of my past.

I go to Lake Cormorant High School. My teacher for this English class is Mrs. Vance, and I like how she
doesn’t tolerate and distractions in class because it helps people focus. My favorite subject is math. I am
very fast at it and catch on quickly. I also love numbers, adding, and everything that goes with that. I’m a
visual learner which is also why I like math so much, because math is just visually learning. I want to be a
mechanic, and math will come in handy with that. Although my mom is a science teacher, and my dad is
a history teacher, I think both of those subjects are absolute TORTURE. They are boring and I not that
good at them either. Hearing that dismissal bell at the end of the day makes me want to sing and dance
and everything that goes along with it.

My best friends name is Celina. We laugh and talk together, and we know how to cheer each other up
when one of us is having a bad day. I think in some ways we are very different, but we seem to get along
so good anyways. She is quiet and shy around people she doesn’t know or like. She is very artistic and
talented. She loves getting her nails done and she even wants to do her own little nail business.

One of my goals is to be more social and less shy. I also want to work on being more confident, and
patient. I think it is important to socialize more because it will help you in everyday life. You must be
able to socialize when you’re in college, when you’re trying to get a job, and just anywhere in general.
One of my biggest learning goals is to learn how to speak fluent Spanish along with other languages. I
want to know how to speak multiple languages because it would be cool, but it would also be helpful to
communicate with people that don’t speak English, and I could be a great translator.

I want to encourage you to be happy in life. Do what makes you happy not what makes other people
happy. Don’t focus on impressing other people, just be true to yourself instead of trying to be someone
you’re not. I encourage you to take risks and have fun. Life is too short for what ifs or possibilities. Meet
new people, travel, and make a difference in the world. Always remember that you are valued, and you
are important. Make the choice to be happy.

Sincerely,

Me, your past self
