SCREENING
CCD SCREENING POSITIVE

Next+CCDs screening is a new test which detects the presence of specific IgE against CCDs (cross-reactive
carbohydrate determinants) in the serum of the patient and blocks it.
The majority of proteins related to allergic diseases are glycoproteins, that is, they have carbohydrates in their
structure. Some of these carbohydrates are capable of generating per se an immune response in which, as a
consequence, specific IgE antibodies are produced against them. These carbohydrates are known as CCDs. CCDs are
especially part of numerous allergens being an important part of the cross-reactivity phenomenon.
Scientific studies consider the presence of specific IgE against CCDs irrelevant in the clinic of the allergic patient.
Therefore, blocking this IgE would help increase the clinical specificity of the result and improve the design of the
immunotherapy.

ENVIRONMENTAL ALLERGENS
Ref. 15135159

Positive results confirm the presence of specific immunoglobulins against those allergens, which may be responsible
for the pet's symptoms and which makes it advisable to use a hyposensitising treatment.
In general, a hyposensitising treatment is recommended in those cases in which the clinical history, the symptoms and
the results indicate an atopic disease.
