PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE ‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒

Wetland Ecology and Monitoring Intern June 2022 - September 2022
Washington State Department of Transportation
o Conducted quantitative site assessments at WSDOT wetland mitigation sites throughout western
WA using transects (point-line for herbaceous cover, line-intercept for woody cover, and UBTs for
woody density), working as part of a team to collect data via ArcGIS Collector and Microsoft Excel.
o Conduct qualitative site surveys; record field notes and observations relevant to sampling design,
vegetation, hydrology, and wildlife. Estimate woody/herbaceous/invasive cover and collaborate to
create maps of invasive/noxious weeds and native woody/herbaceous plant communities on site.
o Identify plants in the field and collect those which cannot be identified to key out in the lab using
Flora of the Pacific Northwest [2nd edition] (Hitchcock and Cronquist), Plant Identification
Terminology: An Illustrated Glossary [2nd edition] (Harris and Harris), and dissecting scopes.
o Fieldwork was conducted in rotating teams of field leads and interns each week from Monday to
Wednesday, with plant lab and additional training presentations on Thursdays and occasional
overnights. Fieldwork took place in all weather conditions and often involved walking on uneven
and/or slippery ground in knee boots or hip waders, occasionally through extremely dense
vegetation and often carrying equipment (Mesa2 tablet, 100 m tape, field notebook).

Pinto Abalone Restoration Project Intern February 2022 - June 2022

Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife
o Reviewed approximately 45,000 images from various abalone outplant sites in the San Juan
Islands and recorded observations of potential predators.
o Created and managed several spreadsheets for the different outplant sites/cameras, recording
information such as image filename, time stamp, and type of predator (e.g., kelp greenling,
sculpin, crab, etc.; ID to species where possible).
o Made note of any other significant or unusual observations, e.g., "smoking gun" images.

Paint Specialist April 2017 - September 2021

Mallory Paint Store, Issaquah, WA
o Assisted customers in choosing paint products, colors, sundries, and determining quantities of
products needed for their project.
o Communicated effectively with customers to understand their project needs, answered questions
about product specifications and application, and assisted in color consultations.
o Tinted and mixed paint to order, restocked merchandise in the store, and operated the POS
system to take payment on orders in-person and over the phone.
o Traveled to job sites, sundries suppliers, and other Mallory stores in the work van to deliver or
pickup paint/sundries for stock, orders, and transfers, often lifting and carrying items up to 60 lbs.
