Discover Strengths and Energizers

Here are some useful questions you can use to discover others’ strengths, energizers, and aspirations:
Strengths
Describe a time when you were successful. What was the situation? What strengths did you use?

1. What strengths have enabled you to get here in your career?

2. What strengths do others notice in you?

3. What are you good at?

Energizers

1. Describe a time when you felt great in a role. What made this role energizing for you?

2. What activities do you particularly enjoy in the workplace? What motivates you about these?

3. What would you spend your time doing even if you didn’t get paid for it?

4. What depletes your energy in the workplace?

5. What are some dos and don’ts in working with you?

Aspirations

1. In three years, if you were to be hugely successful, what would have happened?

2. Looking back on a successful career, what would make you feel good?

3. What impact inspires you?

You can use these questions in a one-on-one conversation with a colleague. These are also great
questions that you can ask as part of a team meeting and invite everyone to share their responses.

Take a moment now to write down the names of key stakeholders you work with and fill in the chart below.
It will help you motivate and influence others. If you’re coming up with not enough information, then
continue to stay curious, observe, and listen actively.
