Part 1: Basic Rules

After you learn how to play, the game will start

. suddenly whenever you remember it exists.

Every time you remember this game:

A visceral larp • Say to yourself, in horror, "it sees you."

Sขs
to play forever • (optional: speak quietly.)
for one & sometimes more
• As fast as you can, get away from where you are
by Jackson Tegu and hide behind a corner so you aren't visible from

. where you were when it saw you.You can hide

behind a turn of hallway, out the doorway from a

yoU room, etc.

• (optional: instead, "as fast as you safely can...")

• In a whisper, count down from 33 as you look

back at the corner. Don’t peer around the corner,
just look into the empty space next to it.

• If someone comes around the corner before

you're done counting down, tell them "It sees you!
Quick, come with me!"
• (optional: if they might not understand that
this is a game, you can say, "uh, it's a game!")
• (optional: if it's part of your relationship with
that person, take their hand.)
• (optional: if they don't come with you, leave
them behind.)

• Lead them around another corner, look back at

the corner you've just come around, and start
whisper-counting down from 33. If you look them
in the eyes for a moment, they might start whisper-
counting with you.

• If someone else comes around this corner, repeat,

hiding around a different corner with all of you,
starting the countdown again.

• If no-one comes around the corner and count

down to 0, you can breathe a sigh of relief and say
"I think it's gone."

• For the rest of the day you can opt to not play
again whenever you remember this game, but after
the sun rises again, something might again see you.
Part 2: What To Imagine

The first time you play this game perhaps you're

playing it just to enjoy the movement and the
stillness, or perhaps you're just learning the
game because you encountered someone else
playing it.

On subsequent plays, use that 33 second

countdown to imagine three things, detailed
below. But don't consult these rules while you
play, just read this outline and let your mind
hold onto the parts it wants to, and fill in any
gaps with whatever occurs to you at the
moment.

You ran off so fast your brain didn’t register the

details of the horrible thing which saw you.
Now, as you stare at the empty space near the
corner you just came around, let your brain
catch up and fill in the terrifying details:

As you start your countdown,

remember-imagine the being's eye or eyes that saw you. How big or small,
how sharp or milky or dark, what shape pupil and what colours iris, what
other spots or lids or lashes, how that eye blinked or rolled or focussed.

It
Imagine where that eye is attached to its body.

When your countdown passes 20,

imagine how, right now unseen by you, the eye moves around the space you
ran from and by imagining that, give shape to its body. Is there slime, are there
tendrils or legs? You know it's looking for you. How does it soundlessly move
aside the furniture? If there were other people there, can they perceive it?

s
Have they already been consumed?

Sข When your countdown passes 10,

imagine that the thing which saw you draws closer and closer to the other
side of the corner, the corner that you're even now looking at the space next
to. Imagine its anticipatory movement. Does it already know you're there?

yoU
Any moment now.Any moment and-

When your countdown reaches 0,

imagine that the thing makes some unknown decision and suddenly departs.
Feel the wash of relief. You don't need to hide anymore... at least, not for now.
Part 4: Clarifications

Part 3: How To Play Forever Don’t hide in a corner, hide behind a corner.

Every time you remember the game, play it If several people are reminded about the game
immediately. If you want to check the rules again together and start playing at the same time, they can
afterwards, that's cool, just make sure you do so after all hide behind the same corner or different corners,
playing. There will be some amount of drift from the either is fine.
rules as written to how you remember them- that's
part of how this game will settle into the world, via If, instead of a person coming around the corner
our memories of reading and playing it.After reading while you're hiding, the terrifying thing which saw
the rules once you could also opt to keep playing it you comes around the corner and finds you
how you remember it, however that ends up cowering there, you can choose: bargain with it,
changing over the years. Perhaps you'll teach it scream in an attempt to frighten it off, or flee behind
slightly differently to other folks, that's all fine too. a different corner and continue play.
