Present simple is a verb tense

When do we usually use it?

We usually use it for repeated actions.

It happens over and over again.

It is also used for a general statements of fact.

 Example
I eat breakfast every day.

I read in bed every night.

I always study after school.

 Verb Form
Present simple verbs have two forms.
a. base verb
b. verb + s
 Which form do we use?
• It depends on the subject of the sentence.
• The subjects can be pronouns (I, you, we, they - he, she, it)
• The subjects also can be nouns (people, places, things)
Base Verb:
Pronouns - I, you, we, they
• I walk to school every day.
• You always drink coffee.
• We sometimes eat dessert.
• They study every night
Verb + S:
Pronouns - he, she, it
• He needs the newspaper on the weekend.
• She takes the bus to work in the morning.
• It sleeps on the couch ever day.
Base Verb:
Nouns - plural nouns
• The students take the bus to school.
• My parents drink coffee every morning.
Verb + S:
Nouns - singular noun
• The student walks to school every day.
• My cat always sleeps on my bed.
Verb + S:
Nouns - uncountable
• Snow falls from the sky in winter.
• My hair grows quickly.
