Quantitative variable definition


Quantitative variables are any variables where the data represent amounts
When you collect quantitative data, the numbers you record represent real amounts that can
be added, subtracted, divided, etc. There are two types of quantitative variables: discrete
and continuous.

Qualitative variable definition


A qualitative or categorical variable is one in which the variable categories are not described
as numbers but instead by verbal groupings. There are two classifications of categorical
data: nominal and ordinal. Nominal variables have “names,” not numerical values

- Ecuadorian provinces
- Dog breeds
- US states
