 STANDARD OPERATION PROCEDURE

Summary:
This is the standard operation procedure for operating mobil
tower light, which includes work scope, preparation,
precautions, hazards controls, detailed working procedures and
verification after completion of work.
1. Work Scope
This SOP applies to mobil tower light operation on ZJ50/70 on
shore drilling rigs.
2. Preparation of personnel, equipment and
tools

3. Tools Preparation and Check
(1) Check tires pressure of the tower light is within working
specified range.
(2) Check the fastening screws of each part of the tower light to
ensure the reliable operation of the tower light.
(3) Ensure the tower light horizontal lock pin is in place and
keep it locked.
(4) Ensure that the driving route is smooth, so as not to damage
the lamps during walking.
4. Preparation Before Work
(1) Check the diesel volume is sufficient.
(2) The grounding cable is proper installed.
(3) The screen is in good condition.

(4) Water proof guard is installed properly.
(5) Ensure the lights are in good condition.
5. Hazards Analyze and Controls

6. Procedures
(1) Choose a suitable location and place the tower light on a flat
ground that will provide sufficient light in the illuminated area.
(2) Pull out the fixing pins of the front and rear legs, make the
outriggers perpendicular to the ground, insert the positioning
pins, and adjust the height of the outriggers to make the tower
light stable.
(3) Install the ground cable of the tower light with hammer to
ensure good contact with the earth.
(4) Adjust the direction of the lamps so that the illuminated area
has sufficient light, then tighten the screw to make the lamps
incapable of movement.

 STANDARD OPERATION PROCEDURE
(5) Remove the horizontal lock pin of the tower light, shake the
handle of the wheel, raise the light stand to the vertical position,
and then insert the control lock pin into the jack position.
(6) After the tower lights adjusted completely, turn the electrical
switches to the off position to prevent the generator from
starting with load and the electrical equipment from being
subjected to inappropriate voltage and frequency.
(7) Check whether the engine oil and diesel meet the
requirements and whether other parts are normal to ensure that
the tower light can work normally.
(8) Turn the key switch to the starting position.the starting time
should not exceed 20 seconds, observe engine's working
condition.
(9) When the engine is running normally, turn the electrical
switch to the on position, allowing the light to reach the
maximum brightness within 2 minutes.
(10) When lighting is not needed, turn the electrical switch to
the off position first, then stop the engine after the lights go out.
(11) The tower light needs to be moved and must be operated
in accordance with the operation steps of the tower light, but
whether it is to operate the tower light or to move the tower
light, the lamp must be cooled for 10 minutes, so as to prevent
the lamp from being damaged.
7. Verification after Completion of Work
(1) Whether all the equipment components and tools not
required any more have been sorted out.
(2) Whether the work permit has been signed after receival and
submitted to the team leader in charge of the shift.
(3) Whether all the safety fences are cleared or not.
(4) Whether all the safety facilities have been put back after
completion of operation.

(5) Whether the safety devices/tools in the tool chest of derrick
have been returned and received with signature given.

HSEINTL-DWS-Implementation specifications.
