STANDARD OPERATION PROCEDURE
Summary:
This is the standard operation procedure for loading and
offloading casings with forklift, which includes the work scope,
preparation, precautions, hazards controls, detailed working
procedures and verification after completion of work.
1. Work Scope
This SOP applies to loading and offloading casings with forklift
on ZJ50/70 onshore drilling rigs.

STANDARD OPERATION PROCEDURE
(2) Only qualified and certified forklift and Operator can up to
the requirements.
(3) Driller or other competent persons approved by Rig
manager, arranged a Toolbox meeting for those employees
who work on this job and take responsibilities.
(4) Ensure the condition of the ground is good enough for the
vehicles moving or parking.
(5) Designated Banks man is needed.
(6) The Forklift Operator with Banks man must get involved in
this meeting .
(7) The Driller or other competent persons approved by Rig
manager, must get the permission of JSA and PTW, after the
meeting is finished.
(8) All casings must be installed with casing protectors properly.

Dropped objects Ensure the casings loaded in the centre of
the fork and keep balance.
Ensure the hands and feet are in a proper
position.
Pinch points Enhance communication; must use safety
glass.
Ensure the working place is kept neat and
Trip hazard tidy.
6. Procedures
6.1 Loading
(1) Ensure lateral locks of the forks are proper positioned.
(2) When loading casings, the anticipated load.
must not exceed the working capacity of the forklift.
(3) Banks man instruct the Forklift Operator to perform loading
operation.
(4) Hard wood planking must be used between layers and
these must be of sufficient thickness (8 cm), to prevent the forks
from sticking between the layers.
(5) The hard wood planking must be at least 16 cm wide.
(6) Drive forklift with low speed.
(7) All loads are not to be lifted higher than the normal
travelling position and certainly no higher than 1 metre to get
past obstacles.
(8) Roustabout must not stand on the casings row when the
Forklift Operator load casings.
NOTE: All casings are to be lowered onto the wood planking
and never rolled except onto the pipe rack.
6.2 Offloading
(1) Ensure lateral locks of the forks are proper positioned.

(2) When offloading casings, the anticipated load must not
exceed the working capacity of the forklift.
(3) Roustabout prepare to put wooden planks on the ground (or
put casings on pipe rack without wooden planks).
(4) Banks man instruct the Forklift Operator to perform
offloading operation.
(5) Drive forklift with low speed.
(6) All loads are not to be lifted higher than the normal travelling
position and certainly no higher than 1 metre to get past
obstacles.
(7) Roustabout must not stand on the casings row when the
Forklift Operator offload casings.
NOTE: All casings are to be lowered onto the wood planking
and never rolled except onto the pipe rack.
7. Verification after Completion of Work
(1) Whether all the equipment components and tools not
required any more have been sorted out.
(2) Whether all the safety fences are cleared or not.
(3) Whether all the safety facilities have been put back after
completion of loading/offloading operation.
(4) Whether the safety devices/tools in the tool chest have been
returned and received with signature given.
(5) Whether the work permit has been signed after receival
and submitted to the team leader in charge of the shift.
NOTE: This SOP mentioned JSA & PTW according to CNPC -
HSEINTL-DWS-Implementation specifications.
