A Healthy Environment is Essential for A Strong Economy and An Equitable Society

ll: OBJECTIVES :
The aim of sustainable development is to balance our economic, environmental and
social needs, allowing prosperity for now and future generations. Sustainable
development consists of a long-term, integrated approach to developing and achieving
a healthy community by jointly addressing economic, environmental, and social issues,
whilst avoiding the over consumption of key natural resources.

lll. PROBLEMS
● Biodiversity Depletion
● Air Pollution
● Food Supply Problems

lV. LITERATURE:
Literature: Financial and economic crises have also characterized the twenty-first
century. Our production and consumption patterns are just unsustainable, according to
research. The linear economic model, which involves transforming raw materials into
products that are utilized, consumed, and then discarded, not only causes rising
pollution and waste but also intensifies competition for natural resources on a worldwide
scale. A financial crisis that starts in one country's finance sector and spreads around
the world can result in years of economic contraction and stagnation. Global networks
can spread more than just materials, goods, and pollutants.

It is also obvious that not everyone in the world enjoys the same advantages from
economic progress. Significant differences in income levels exist between and within
nations, regions, and cities. There are towns and people living below the poverty line
even in Europe, where living standards are far higher than the worldwide average.
Sadly, some of these groups of people and communities are also more susceptible to
environmental dangers. They are more likely to reside in homes with poor insulation,
which leaves them vulnerable to extreme cold and heat, as well as places that are
prone to air pollution and flooding. The groups paying the costs are not always the ones
reaping the benefits.

Future generations, irrespective of their nation of origin or degree of affluence, will

have to contend with more harsh weather conditions, fewer species, dwindling
resources, and increased pollution if current patterns continue. Given this prognosis, it
is not surprising that millions of young Europeans are protesting in the streets to call for
more ambitious and successful climate change mitigation measures on behalf of
policymakers.

V. PROPOSED SOLUTION:
● Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away. Follow the three
"R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space.
● Volunteer. Volunteer for cleanups in your community. You can get involved in
protecting your watershed, too.
● Educate. When you further your own education, you can help others understand
the importance and value of our natural resources.
● Conserve water. The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater that
eventually end up in the ocean.
● Shop wisely. Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bag.
● Use long-lasting light bulbs. Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas
emissions. Also flip the light switch off when you leave the room!
● Plant a tree. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the
air, and help combat climate change.

Vl. CONCLUSION/SUMMARY:
Our planet is facing unprecedented challenges to its environment and climate, which
together threaten our well-being. Yet, it is not too late to take decisive action. The task
might seem daunting but we still have the possibility to reverse some of the negative
trends, adapt to minimise harm, restore crucial ecosystems and protect much stronger
what we still have. To achieve long-term sustainability, we need to approach the
environment, climate, economy and society as inseparable parts of the same entity.
