● Presentation: Good morning, my name is Roberto Vega and today I'm going
to talk about the movie Wonder and the theme of Kindness present in it.
● Introduction: “Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the
qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to
greatness.”
● Theme: Kindness
○ When August cried on Halloween, his favorite day, because his friend
badmouthed him behind his back. But Olivia encouraged him to go to
the parade by highlighting his attributes.
○ When Summer sat with August at lunch because he was eating alone.
She put aside physical prejudices and cared more about being his
friend.
○ When August was being beaten. But his classmates defended him and
did not let him be abused.
● Conflicts:
○ Man vs self when he struggled with himself to accept his physical
appearance.
○ Man vs man: On the occasions when Julian would bother August with
any aspect of his physical appearance.
○ Man vs society: When August wanted to go unnoticed in his
schoolyard, he could not succeed. On the contrary, the children were
always staring at him.
○ Man vs. nature: The conflict of understanding why you were born
physically different and accepting yourself as such.

● Conclusion: The movie helped me to reflect on what is most important inside

a person. Other people's prejudices are not what define us. I didn't like that
the movie made fun of him because of his physical appearance and that he
was bullyied for it. I liked that in the course of the movie the kids accepted him
more because they got to know him and he became part of their group. One
day I lent a marker. To be kindness, the day I needed a marker, they lent it to
me.
