Developing Working Group – G20

➢ What: The first meeting of the Development Working Group under


India’s G20 Presidency was held in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

➢ Why: To focus on G20 collective actions for accelerating progress


on the SDGs, and support to developing countries in dealing with
immediate concerns relating to food, fuel and fertiliser security.

➢ About G20 Development Working Group

• Objective: To discuss developmental issues in Developing


Countries, Least Developed Countries and Island Countries

• Establishment: 2010 (at the G20 Toronto Summit)

• It is a platform for G-20 member countries to come together and


prioritize multilateralism, share solutions that promote growth and
remap development plans.

• In 2016, it was entrusted responsibility for coordinating and


monitoring policy actions across all G20 countries related to the UN
2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

➢ Why: To mark the start of discussions on the Finance Track


agenda under the Indian G20 Presidency.

• Organizers: It was hosted jointly by Ministry of Finance and
Reserve Bank of India.

• Around 40 meetings of Finance Track will be held in several


locations in India, which also include meetings of G20 Finance

reflected in the G20 Leaders’ Declaration.

Decision Support System (Krishi-DSS) using geospatial
technologies.

• It is a decision support system on the lines of Gati Shakti.

• It will use RISAT-1A Satellite and Visualisation of Earth observation


Data and Archival System (VEDAS) of Department of Space.

Data Archival Centre (MOSDAC) and BHUVAN (Geo-platform) of
ISRO

▪ MOSDAC is data repository of ISRO, dealing with meteorology,


oceanography and tropical water cycles.

Fund (FIDF).

• Launch Year: 2018-19.

• Total fund size: Rs 7522.48 crore.

• It provides concessional finance to the Eligible Entities (EEs),


including States/UTs and State entities for development of
identified fisheries infrastructure facilities.

• This finance is provided through the interest subvention up-to 3%


by the Nodal Loaning Entities (NLEs) at the interest rate not lower
than 5% per annum.
