1.- My first day at school

1.- Before my first day, I was quite scared of my new school.

6-. After lunch we did mathematics and I realized it was my favourite subject.

3-.Mr Jones looked very kind and friendly and I decided that I liked him.

7-. Finally, the bell went and it was time to go home.

2., When I arrived at the school gate, my new teacher was waiting for us.

4-. He asked me to sit next to a boy who became my best friend.

5-. In the morning break we ran around the playground with some other children.

2.- A life touched by history

1.- Betty Barr has lived a life touched by the history of China.

4.- But all this changed during the Second World War and Betty and her family spent two and
half a year in a prison camp in the city.

7.- In the early 80s, she finally returned to Shanghai where she still lives with her Shanghai
husband, George Wang.

2.- She was born in Shanghai in 1933 to an American mother and a father from Scotland.

3.- At that time, Shanghai was an exciting city filled with people from many different countries.

4.- A School Trip

1.- When Sam was a young boy, he went on a school trip to the seaside.

4.- In the afternoon it got so hot, they decided to go for a swim.

3.- When they arrived, they visited the town and ate ice-cream.

6.-He thought it was a big fish and ran out of the water shouting.

2.- They went only for the day and he had all his friends with him.

5.-While they were swimming around, Sam felt something touch his leg.

5.- My first Car

1.- I will never forget the first time I drove a car by myself.

7.- I drove off full of confidence, but unfortunately, I hit a lamp post at the end of the street.

2.- However, I didn’t have a car, and my parents would not let me drive theirs.

3.- I had just passed my test and I was the proud owner of a driving licence.

5.- I called the number in the advert and arranged to meet the owner on the other side of
town.

6.- We agreed a price and when I handed over the cash, he gave me the keys.

4.- So, when I saw an advertisement in the local paper for a cheap second-hand car, I didn’t
waste a moment.

6.- A New Flat

1.- I woke up early on Saturday because I wanted to find a new place to live.

5.-The first one I saw was close to where I work but the kitchen was quite small.

4.-I chose those four to look at because all the others were too expensive.

6.-The next three needed too many repairs and were not as close to my office.

7.-As I didn’t need a big kitchen, I decided on the first place.

3.-I found the addresses of four places I wanted to see.

2.- Before I left the house , I checked the newspaper and the internet.

7.- The Writer

1.- Joe Benson was born in Liverpool in 1992.

5.-People liked it and he sold 3000 copies in just over a week.

4-.He sent them to lots of publishing companies but they refused to publish them.

6.-He sold more and more books and was rich before he was twenty.

2.-He loved reading all kinds of stories as a child at school.

3.-While he was still a student, he wrote several stories of his own.

So, he decided to do it for himself and printed his first book of short stories in 2011.
