TOPIC: Functions of Communication

Thesis Statement:

Acts to control member behaviour in several ways and motivate people to live better are the
functions of communication.

Body Paragraphs:

Firstly, a person can control one’s behaviour from functions of communication. As we know,
it can be used to regulate the nature and amount of activities humans engage in. Like people
always said “A person can lead to improved interpersonal skills”. For an example, practice
leading a meeting or presentation. Linda and Melissa (2019) state that Planning and Leading
Effective Meetings. They say a meetings provide recommendations and tools for planning
and leading effective meetings. Besides that, a person can mediate attitudes and behaviour.
For an example, the position or posture assumed by the body in connection with an action,
feeling & mood. Mohammad Zabetipour’s (2015) explain about The Impacts of Open/closed
Body Positions and Postures on Learners’ Mood. He says that impacts of the bodily
behaviours on the person assuming specific physical postures and is aimed at revealing the
possible impacts of high/low power. Therefore, communication functions to control
behaviour.

Secondly, a person can also motivate from functions of communication. So that, a person
can improving learning efficiency. It refers to a person using a language to express desires,
needs, wants, likes and dislikes, choices and aspirations. For an example, coming up with
creative ideas to improve something, or make something new. Jurgen Schmidhuber (2010)
tell about Formal Theory of Creativity, Fun and Intrinsic Motivation. He mention that the
placing self-imposed limitations can boost creativity because it forces even creative people
to work outside of their comfort zone. To prevent, a person can more indirect impact. For an
example, motives that are removed from the work and may be considered harmful to
performance. Ruth Kanfer and Michael Frese (2017) clarify about the Motivation Related to
Work: A Century of Progress. They convey the important of note that rewards do not always
undermine self-determined or intrinsic forms of motivation. Therefore, communication
motivates or encourages people to live better.
