1. Let the student look around and take a picture of an object, plant, or flower in the
school surroundings and relate to mathematics. Discuss the findings and observations.

I chose
pineapple to relate to mathematics because, based on my observations, it is one of the plants
with spirals that I can relate to mathematics. The hexagonal nubs on pineapples form spirals.
The pineapple nubs form eight spirals that rotate diagonally upward to the left and thirteen
spirals that rotate diagonally upward to the right. There are also 21 parallel rows of nubs spiral
down markedly. The numbers of spirals which is 8, 13 and 21 are consecutive Fibonacci
numbers.

2. Let the student watch a video clip entitled “Nature and Numbers” by Cristobal Villa.
After watching let your students write an essay answering the following questions:
Math is everywhere, and it has become inextricably linked to our daily lives. No matter
where we are or what we are doing, math can be observed and applied to anything. Math is the
key that opens the door before us, thus it would be quite difficult to live our daily lives without it.
Even if we're only turning on the air condition, we are using math. Finally, mathematics is
necessary at all stages of life since we cannot function without it.
Everyone uses mathematics it is very useful in our day to day life. Using mathematics
helps us in performing numerous tasks whether it's for taking medicines, calculating home
expenses, baking, and keeping track of time. All of these things necessitate a basic
understanding of mathematics. We can improve our critical thinking, expand our knowledge,
and improve our reasoning abilities. Learners should utilize the world to understand how
mathematics works, math also helps us to comprehend the world.
