Use these following questions for your reflections/realizations: (just take note of your reflections/realizations,
no need to submit it, we will talk about it on Wednesday)
1. Why do you think your understanding of philosophy is important in ethics?
2. Why do you think ethics is concerned in human acts? how ethics can help us if there are conflicting beliefs
with others?
3. How religious belief should be understood in ethics? Does religious beliefs should be suspended in
understanding ethics?

Philosophy is a never-ending event of pondering all kinds of questions, as it consists of whys and hows
that seek to reflect and tries to grasp a complete understanding of what is around us. On the other hand,
ethics is a discipline of what or how a person should act and how humans should co-exist. It defines
what is morally good or bad and right or wrong. Philosophy acts as the question, and ethics is the fruit of
reflective thinking figuring out the ethical living.

Ethics defines humans as it separates us from other nonhuman organisms. Humans possess knowledge
and consciousness of what/how to think and act right to co-exist with society. Acting consciously rather
than instinctively. It is a basis or rule for the way of living.

Belief conflict can be solved by identifying whose beliefs are subjective or objective—seeking each
belief to determine whose ethical beliefs are independent of personal values and who is inclined to
personal preferences.

The correlation between religious beliefs and ethics falls upon the deontological ethical theories since
such deeds are already bound to do so. Moreover, defining what is right and wrong or good or bad is
heavily inclined to what God's commandments are—making God's commandments or God himself the
arbiter for judgment of what is right or wrong. Moreover, religions provide reasoning that a morally
upright person is rewarded and a place in hell for those who are not, determined after the trials.

Then if God does not exist, anything is permitted.
