Children's Congress 2022
Every year is observed as National Children’s
Month (NCM).The celebration seeks to“ emphasize
the importance of the r
o l e o f t h e child within
the Filipino family and in nation building and
mandates the promotion and protection of
their physical, moral, Spiritual intellectual,
and social well-being by instilling in them the
values of patriotism and nationalism among others
as well as encouraging in public and civic affairs.
By virtue of Republic Act 10661, the
National Children’s Month (NCM) in the
Philippines commemorates the adoption of the UN
CRC on 20 November 1989, is annually celebrated
every November. It seeks to instill its significance
in the Filipino consciousness.

This November 2020 marks the 28th anniversary


of the NCM. In compliance with the new normal
condition and strict compliance with the
minimum health standards, The NCM
observance shall utilize quad media (i.e. print
media, broadcast media, outdoor media, and the
social media) as a tool in tackling and educating
Filipinos on children’s rights, parenting, and the
concerns surrounding them. This year’s NCM
celebration will FOCUS on Upholding Children’s
Rights During the Pandemic Like COVID-19, with
the THEME Sama-samang Itaguyod Ang Karapatan
ng Bawat Bata sa Panahon ng Pandemya!One of the
activities to celebrate National Childrens Month is
to Recite the “Panatang Makabata” a solemn oath
on the promotion and protection of the rights of a
child during flagceremonies.

Last October 29, 2022, A symposium was held at


puerto de San Juan, La Union.

The program started at exactly 8:00 in the
morning, preliminaries such as singing of the
pambansang awit and h y
m n s were done through
audio visual presentation next to it was the
acknowledgement of the Guest and Participants.
The program session was welcomed by the MSWD
OfficerMa'am Pureza K. Tarnate. House rules were
also reiterated to observe proper health protocol
and discipline among participants. an inpirational
message was given by Ma'am Yolanda Vergara, our
MLGOO -San Juanin charge. at exactly 10:00
symposium proper was done, one of speakers was
the DILG Office Ma'am Yolanda Vergara who
talked about Awareness on illegal Drugs, another
brilliant speaker was the MSWD Officer, Pureza
Ternate who talked about Violence Against Women
and Children followed by Police Master Sargeant
Mera M. Alagna and Police Corporal Erlyn V.
Ducusin who talked on Kinds of drug and efffects
of drugs. in the afternoon, Mr. Jerry Palabay thet
head teacher iii of San juan National High School
talked about Leadership and facilitate Capacity
training. After the session an election of oset of
officers for the children's congress was done.
afterwhich teambuilding follows.

We all believe t hat children has a great factor


and impact in out community, so it was a great
challenge for them to be part of this pandemic, to
be part of this chal lenging times.
