• Watch films with something to take notes at the same time

• Pay attention to the type of shot and how the director sets it up

• Think about the composition of the scene

• Look for narrative devices like voiceovers and think about the effect of
these devices

• Pay attention to the way it’s edited

• Look for recurring elements that tie important things together, songs,
camera shots etc
