Syllabus update : XII CBSE Physics for session-2022-23

Major variations :
• Meter bridge is removed from theory but not from practical.
• Potentiometer is totally removed from theory as well as practical.
• Cyclotron is not included. Earth’s magnetism is excluded
• Electromagnets and their applications are not included.
• Scattering and its applications- Blue colour of sky and reddish
appearance of Sun at sunrise and sunset are excluded.
• Resolving powers of telescope and microscope along with polarization
& Malus law are kept excluded.
• Binding energy curve added again , Radioactivity along with mean life
& half life remain excluded.
Syllabus update : XII CBSE Physics for session-2022-23

• Optoelectronic devices- photo diode, LED & solar cell are removed
, as well as Zener diode, transistor & logic gates are not included.

Following special features are added :

[to make the content easy to prepare ]

1. Some of the derivations are replaced by direct formula

application , such as :

• Expression for energy stored by capacitor.

• Expression for fringe width in YDSE.
2.Some of the quantitative (numerical) treatments are
replaced by qualitative treatments, such as :

• Magnetic field due to solenoid.

• Solenoid as bar magnet.
• Magnetic dipole derivations.
• Transverse nature of EMW
• Width of central maxima in diffraction pattern
• Hydrogen line spectra
• Semiconductors & insulators
Changes in practical syllabus :

• Two practical , to find focal lengths for concave & convex

mirrors are added back.
• One more practical is added: to find refractive index of a
liquid using concave mirror.
List of deletions
• Present in NCERT book
But Not in CBSE-2022-23
*You are suggested not to leave the content marked with Yellow
As ambiguity is there.

Special :
For session 2022-23, numerical
content is increased with calculation
part, one should know how to calculate

Paper Pattern & Preparation Strategy

Strategy for preparation:

• You should go through the class notes or those which you prepared using
NCERT book.
• Get familiarity with all the applicable solved examples as per current
syllabus.
• After that, practice questions given in your board booklets (these are PYQ).
Also available in examination section at cbse.gov.in (for CBSE*)
• In the end attempt the sample paper/model paper issued by CBSE/state
board as mock test, being time bound.
• One should detect his weakness in various topics using sample paper/paper
provided in your board booklet as mock test and then work on them to
rectify those.

Conclusion:
If you find yourself well familiar with the
above mentioned content, before your pre-
board exams, then it will be considered as a
good start. So “Congratulate Yourself”
Let’s Get Familiar With
Subjective Pattern
Again After Class X
Subjective :- Only conventional methods with which copy
checker is familiar serve the purpose.

- Only those diagrams are fruitful from which checker is familiar

-Only those derivation methods are fruitful with which

checker is familiar.

-Only those symbols can be used which are either given in

question or the standard and conventional used in
course book.

1. Related to representation: [ Subjective Pattern]

[i] In graph one should mention the quantities taken on X- axis

and Y- axis along with their unit. [ most of the students
draw the pattern only and expect full marks]
1. Related to representation: [ Subjective Pattern]

[ii]One should develop habit to write the unit with the

numerical value in final answer.
[ missing unit causes deduction of marks]
Deduct ½ mark for writing wrong units, missing units,
in the final answer to numerical problems.
1. Related to representation: [ Subjective Pattern]

[iii] In electric circuits, if it is dc circuit, then direction of

current must be clearly mentioned In it, but if it is ac
circuit, then there should be no indication of direction.
[iv] In a ray diagram arrow should be marked showing the
direction of ray.
1. Related to representation: [ Subjective Pattern]

USE OF PROPER SYMBOL IS necessary

1. Related to representation: [ Subjective Pattern]

PROPER REPRESENTATION
CAN MAKE YOU ELEGIBLE FOR MARKS
1.Direction based ambiguity:
[i] Sign convention in optics is applied while obtaining that
formula, as well as while using that formula for a particular
situation.
[ii] Perception of angle made with plane or perpendicular to
the plane.
[iii] Confusion in applying 3-d conditions using 2d concept on
paper.
[iv] To predict direction of a plane progressive wave from its
equation
Avoid overwriting , it creates confusion, and is not
entertained by examiner.
Always follow internal sequence in questions .

1. Definition :- instead of learning each , learn the technique of making.
Let’s understand it with an [Ex.] :--
2. Derivation :
[a] Recognise words – Show / Obtain/Prove/ Derive /Find [Ex.]
[b] Apply the sequence, [ all have more or less same sequence]
[c] Final result must be in conventional format.
Let’s understand it with an[ ex. ] :-
3. Diagrams : Proper size , Proper naming , Matching with text book,
Logical.
4. Graph – also known as characteristics , show ex.
5. Theory – writing paragraphs – principle/construction / working

6. Unit : each answer must be written with proper unit

7. Representation : “jo dikhta he , wo ______ ___”

CHOTI – CHOTI MAGAR

Ex-
[1] Show that a uniformly charged hollow
conducting sphere behaves as if it’s whole charge
were concentrated at it’s centre for the points
situated outside it.

[2] Obtain a relation between object distance ,

image distance and focal length for a mirror.
Ex-
[3] Derive an expression for magnetic force acting
per unit length between two parallel current
carrying conductors placed nearby.
[4] Find condition of balance in wheat stone’s
