1 Identified the patient. Introduced him/herself

patient’s cooperation.
2 Washed hand.
3 Instructed woman to empty her bladder.
4 Draped properly to maintain privacy.
5 Placed the woman in dorsal recumbent position.
Placed a pillow under the head for comfort.
Procedure
First Maneuver: Placed both hands in the upper
1 quadrants of the patient’s abdomen; Using both
hands, felt the fetal part lying in the fundus.
Second Maneuver: Placed both hands in the
paraumbilical regions; One hand used to steady
the uterus on one side of the abdomen while
2 the other hand on the side moved from top to
the lower segment of the uterus to feel for the
fetal back & small fetal parts. Used gentle but
deep pressure.
Third Maneuver: Used thumb and finger (of the
dominant hand), grasped the lower portion of
3 the abdomen above the symphisis pubis,
pressed in slightly & made gentle movements
from side to side.
Fourth Maneuver: Faced foot apart of the
4 woman, palpated fetal head pressing downward
about two inches above the inguinal ligament.
