HGZ series steel cage welding machine is one of all the series machines
in our company. With the way of push the reinforcing steel, and the function
of change the diameter automatically, this machine is able to make the flat
joint wire cage, but also the spigot& socket type steel cage, and even able to
adjust the angle of the spigot joint at direction. Its electrical system adopt
many advanced techniques, such as digital set control, and Full variable
Frequency Control Speed in Sync Ratio, which make a great improvement of
the complete machine’s Maneuverability and Control Accuracy.

Through demonstrate by most users’ operation, this machine is the most


advanced steel cage welding machine made in China, which is with steady,
reliable performance, and with accurate and fast of transition diameter.

1. Application
This machine is the special-purpose welding equipment for making steel
wire cages for the reinforced concrete drainage pipes, it is capable to weld
the reinforcement cages with socket&spigot ends, flat ends and male&
female ends. It is one of the main equipments to manufacture reinforced
concrete pipes.

2. Working Principle
This machine includes 4 parts of driven systems: master plate of rotation,
plate of push reinforcing steel, expansion diameter part, and welding
machine. The 4 parts are drived by independent electrical motor. The Full
variable frequency control ensures that the span of the latitude steel and the
angle of the spigot won’t not change along with the welding speed.
Adjustment the ratio of motor speed can change the span of latitude steel,
and angel of spigot. This machine can weld different diameter cages via
adjustment of location and position of the master plate and welder.

4. Use and Operation
I. Installation
⑴ This machine should be installed indoor with temperature 0°C~+35°C,
without dust, steam, and without flammable and combustible goods and gas.
⑵ Please put the machine on the smooth cement floor, and use the
gradienter to make sure the main base touch with the floor.
⑶ The main machine and the electrical distributor should connect with earth
wire for safe use of electricity.
⑷ Wiring connection should be responsible by professional technician.
There should be an isolating switch under input power of the electrical
distributor, whose rated current should be≥200A. The diameter of its
electrical should be ≥25m㎡. Voltage transformer’s capacity of this
machine will be ≥100KVA, its terminal voltage fluctuate within ±1
0%, and voltage of three-phase’ imbalance should be below±5%, the Zero
line should be without switch.
⑸ As the transducer will produce radio frequency interference, we suggest
our clients not use the air switch with protection of leakage, otherwise that
will mislead the work of earth leakage circuit breaker.
⑹ Please kindly fill up some lubricant or grease to every parts of the
machine such as the reducer, chain, screw rod, slide way and so on, but
Never up to master plate.
⑺ The coolant box should be filled with water.
II. Adjustment and Debugging
⑴ Please regulate and fasten the travel switch of Push reinforcing steel, seat
position switch of the expansion diameter part, and seat position switch of
the welder, according to length of cage and angel of the spigot.
⑵ Regarding to the adjustment of contactless switch, make it induction by
permanent-magnet steel when the longitude steel is under the center of
welder wheel by 10-20mm, and the gap between permanent-magnet steel and
contactless should be 5-8mm( subject to the LEAD ON of the contactless
switch).
⑶ Rotation speed of Master plate can be adjusted by head potentiometer
and its drive motor ‘s branch potentiometer. Also its rotation direction is
anticlockwise.
⑷ The speed of Push of the reinforcing steel is controlled by branch
potentiometer its drive motor.
When start welding, regulate the rotation speed (according to the span of
latitude steel), push reinforcing steel’s direction from back to front.
⑸ Speed of expansion diameter is regulated by branch potentiometer of its
drive motor. Its speed is up to rotation speed of push reinforcing steel
multiplying parameter of the angle of spigot. It can be done before start
operation the machine.
Ratio of rotation speed of push motor and expansion motor correspond the
spigot angel, as following:
1:0.617------Angle of spigot is 10°,
1:0.935------ Angle of spigot is 15°,
1:1.272------ Angle of spigot is 20°,
1:1.631------- Angle of spigot is 25°.
Other angles of spigot please refer to the attachment.
When weld cage with flat joint, you just need to put the switch at“平口”.
⑹ Setup the circles of two pipe ends’ close windings, please setup the
quantity of welding spots in the two counters , for example if cage needs one
circle of close winding, then setup 24 in the counter(quantity of the
longitude).
⑺You can change the position of the welder to adjust the diameter of cage,
start the drive motor of expansion diameter part ( by the two button“手动扩
径”(expansion diameter) and “手动缩径” (shorten diameter), the 24
welders can be moved forward and back simultaneously, but not knock on
the welding machine. When finish adjustment of the welders, then adjust the
third plate with the longitude steel accordingly.
⑻ Regulation of the welding machine: when put all the longitude steel and
latitude steel ready, fire the main plate and make the longitude steel align
with center line of soldering wheel, move the welding machine, let the
soldering wheel and conductive wheel press on cross of the longitude and
latitude steel, and the arc,make spring compression is 5~10 mm .
⑼ Regulate the soldering Voltage and time:generally speaking, the voltage
should keep 150~300V,time should keep in 2-6 cycles.
⑽ Cage support should put 1.5 meter dead ahead of the master plate,
latitude steel pallet should keep in 3 meter from the welding machine.

III. Considerations before operation


⑴ Please use cold-drawn and low-carbon steel with the non-oxidation, no
rustiness and oil stains for welding steel cages. Its diameter should not be
over that stated parameter values, otherwise it will damage to the welders.
When welding steel bars of 7-8mm diameter, please low down the speed, in
case producing too much heat to the welding machine.
⑵ Assure the groove of conductive cooper bush on the Welders coincide
with the diameter of Latitude steel, otherwise it will be difficult to put and
push through the steel wire.
⑶ Check-up the cooling water system: turn on the water pump, look over if
there is water in the water tube, and water flow rate is enough, or else clean
the water cycle system.
⑷ When you use the machine for the first time, please let it empty running,
and you should make everything go on well, without loose and abnormal
noise and liberation.
⑸ Please don’t use the machine when it rains and with thunder, and please
turn off the total electrical power.

IV. Operation and production


⑴ First, press the button “大盘点动”
(means: start master plate, the master
plate will begin revolve, and make one of Welders level with center of
soldering wheel. Put through the longitude steel, let latitude steel through
outer-guide wheel of steel, guide splint of steel, and soldering wheel impact
it to the longitude steel.
⑵ Turn on the switch of the welding on the electrical distributor, and press
the button“手动焊接”(manual welding)to weld the first Welder. Press
button “开机”(power on), screw lightly“总调”to the right speed. Please
follow the sequence: welding close winding of one end of the cage→welding
body of the cage→welding the angel of spigot→end of expansion of the
diameter → welding close winding of the other end of the cage → stop
machine automatically→the cage welding is over.
⑶ Turn off the switch of the welding, and cut off the latitude steel, move
out the welding machine, put down the cage. Press button“输筋复位”
(resetting)
And all other Plate of push, welders, will go back to initial position.
⑷ Following is to repeat the operation, and go on to weld next cage. When
production, if meet any trouble (such as latitude steel is bent, dotter, or
broken), you should press button“停机”(turn off). When everything goes
well, go on to turn on the machine to weld cages.

V. Daily maintenance and attentions


⑴ Please overhaul the machine and add grease oil to the reducers of
welding machine, expansion diameter part, and master plate, plate of push
reinforcing steel in time.
⑵ Chains, gear, screw rod and other transmission parts should add the
grease oil time to time.
⑶ Check the cooling water cycle system usually, if it let out water, please
repair in time, and avoid to ice up in winter, forbidden to operate the
machine without the cooling water.
⑷ Groove on the soldering wheel is too deep, and with too much welding
slag, or abrasion to extreme limit, you should repair it or change it. And the
groove on the conductive bush is abraded too deep, should change its
position in time.
⑸ Please examine and fasten all the screws of conductive cooper head
between electrical voltage and soldering wheel, and conductive wheel, for
fear of loose and ablation.
⑹ Please remember to clean the dust on and in the electrical distributor,
examine and fasten all the screws at the terminals, also the contactless
switches.
⑺ Don’t feel free to adjust the parts of the Electrical distributor, especially
the keyboard of the variable-frequency governor. When welding the angel of
spigot, pay attention to keep fixed ratio of Rotation speed of Expansion
diameter motor, push reinforcing steel motor and motor of welding
machine.
⑻ If you find it doesn’t weld solidly, please check the followings:
① whether the steel satisfy the request;
② whether the welding voltage, and welding time is proper;
③ whether the spring compression rate is good with soldering wheel and
conductive wheel.
④ whether the welding spot is on the cross of longitude and latitude steel;
go to check the whether the contactless switch is induced correctly.
⑤ whether the electric resistance is too big between soldering wheel,
conductive wheel and friction disk ,conductive ring; whether the press is too
small between two friction disks; whether the friction disk and conductive
ring are over worn.
⑥ whether the electric resistance between conductive bush and conductive
block is too big;

Function & Instructions

This button can control the speed of motors of master plate, push reinforced
Master control of steel, expansion diameter part, welding machine, and able to make the four
rotation speed (RP0) motors work at synchronous ratio. Turn Right means speedup, Turn left means
speed down. When running the machine, and if you need to stop it halfway (out
of latitude steel, or other troubles) then you can turn left this button to the end,
this whole machine will stop running. When all trouble clearing, turn right this
button, the machine will run again. Notice that: when you press button“手动输
筋”, this button can’t be turn left to the end.

Indicator light
The indicator light shows”开机”—“输筋”—“扩径开始”—“扩径完毕”—
“输筋前位”by turns, that means this machine is running well.

SB11 When the welding machine begins running or in production, press this button
Stop to stop the welding machine running.

Setup of rotation
speed of the push There are two buttons to control the motor of Push reinforcing steel,〈1〉RP21

SB20
Shorten diameter of When the welding machine stopped, press this button SB20 to make welders to

SB19
Expansion diameter When the welding machine stopped, press this button SB19 to make welders to
of cage by manually expand cage diameter, its speed can be controlled by its frequency converter.

SB21
Spot welding by The button SB21 can be used to weld the first cross of longitude and latitude
manually steel.

SB13
Make angel of spigot You can use the SB13 when the machine is welding the spigot but fails, please
by manually follow this to continue to finish the spigot. First press“开机”and press SB13
(“手动承口” ),then press and hold on “手动输筋”till the Counters show the
number of welding spots, then welding machine will go on finishing the spigot.
SB14 This button is to turn on and turn off the cooling pump. You must turn on this
Cooling pump cooling pump before you turn on the machine; otherwise it is no use to turn on
this cage machine.
SB14
Stop reposition If the plate of push reinforcing steel stop reposition, then you can press this
SB14 , to make it reposition again.
SB15
Begin reposition Press SB15 to make all Plate of Push, Expansion diameter, and welding
following part to begin reposition.
RP3
Setup rotation The button RP3 can control the motor speed of the motor of the Expansion
speed diameter part, it is also controlled by the button RP0

SB12 When get everything ready (put through and compress longitude steel, and

RP11 The welding time is how long it take to weld the cross of steel, and its

S13 This S13 switch is to control whether there is output of welding

it at 1000 R/Min !
SB16 SB16, when the machine is out of power, this button can control the

If welding the socket type concrete pipe framework of steel reinforcement

on the HGZ hanging welder, the rotational speed and the location of limit

switch can be consulted following methods.

Firstly, put the two limit switches at the back to the ends of the slide way. According to the
drawing of framework of steel reinforcement to confirm the size of concrete pipe body. And it
works by the manual enlargement rate or manual diameter reduction, after fasten the
ventage size up, put the manual enlargement rate limit switch under the sensor chip, and
subjected to red light of the limit switch. Adjust the socket size through the operation of manual
enlargement rate button on the operation panel. After fasten up, push the enlargement rate
finished button under the sensor chip. And subjected to red light of the limit switch. Notice:
when setting the size of framework steel reinforencement, the vantages size must be subject by
diameter reduction and the large mouth type must be subject by enlargement rate.

Socket length can be according to the size of the framework drawing, put the enlargement
rate start switch to relevant position. (That is the distance from front limit switch to enlargement
start switch)
And then set the rotation speed again, (recommend the 1000r/min), then set the rotation
speed of pushing bars motor according to the size of pitch of screw of the framework
drawing.(this rotation speed can be set step by step when the machine works )

The setting of rotation speed of enlargement diameter motor is calculated by the speed of
pushing bars motor multiply by socket angle factor(please see it as operating instruction)
Routine maintenance & adjustment of automatic cage welding machine

In order to keep the machine in good condition and use it for longer time,

please kindly require your workers and operators to follow these advices for

maintenance and adjustment the welding machine.

1.The sliding parts and rotation parts of the rolling welder machine must be filling up Lubricating Oil
duly. The trademark of the lubricating oil is NO.10 plain oil.

a. All the chains, filling up oil per 10 days


b. The sliders of each welding station and the big panel must be filling-up per 15 days
c. The mobile sliding plate and leading screw of welding mechanism must be filling-up per 30
days
d. The core bar and leading screw in the welding wheel and conductive casters pressure spring
seat must be filling up one time per shrift.(a little is ok)
e. the Enlargement rack and gear wheel must be filling up one times per 7 days
f. Each support roller and the sideway of pushing bars panel must be filling up one time per
7days
g. The pushing bar pin roll and inner of the pushing bar must be filling up one time per 15days(a
little is ok)
h. Each reducer, the driving wheel and the following wheel, and the motor must be
changed(filling up) for the Lubricating Oil once one year.
Note: it is no need to fill up oil between the front big plate and tug

2. The adjustment of mechanics in common use:


a) Each roundness section of welding station must be checked constantly, if some welding
station leans to inside or outside, we can adjust the tension roller chain screw to
emendation. And inquire the roundness section must be controlled within ±1.5mm. if
the adjustment of welding station is not appropriate. It would cause some bar welding not
tighened or can’t weld.
b) The adjustment of welding wheel and conductive wheel
i. When welding the welding wheel and conductive wheel, they must be kept parallel,
while welding wheel is holding down the rectilineal, the conductive wheel must hold
down the conductive bump. This item can be adjusted by each trimming leading
screw, after that, tighten the front leading screw to avoid looseness.
ii. The welding wheel and conductive wheel must be supported by each pressure spring
and core bar. Appropriate adjustment the spring recharges is one of the key factors
which promise the best welding conditions. Under normal circumstance, the
recharges must be adjusted within20-40kg.
iii. the adjustment of the decrement between welding wheel and conductive wheel is
very important. In general, the decrement can be in 10-15mm. (it can be adjusted by
the sensitive switch and sensitive patch). If the decrement is too small, it would cause
striking fire and welding looseness, if the decrement is too big. It would cause the
bending of the core bar and some parts breakdown. And would be causing the welded
framework of steel reinforcement to come out the angular.
iv. The welding wheel and the conductive wheel and the welding cover must be cleaned
regularly, it must be lathe repaired and changed if they are worn To keep a good
conductive situation.
v. The Overflow hole of the welding wheel and conductive wheel on the big welder
machine must be kept smooth. When they are being used, we are able to see water
flowing out apparently

3. The three chain tensionless on the two sides of welding station must be adjusted appropriately. If it
is too tight, it would cause damage easily. If it is too loose, then it would cause fixation section
inaccuracy to effect the whole roundness. specific techniques of the adjustment is that press the tension
chain by hand, the distance between force down and spring up is about 5-10mm.

4. The section on the back panel of the pulling bars pipe must be adjusted according to the diameter of
the welding framework of steel reinforcement. Must avoid changing diameters to produce the pulling
bar pipe ‘s pitch oversize. Then damage the pulling bar pipe.

5. The distance between the sensitive switch and sensitive pitch must be checked and adjusted
regularly. The distance of the three sensitive switched and sensitive pitch on “front and back limit” and
“enlargement beginning” must be within 5-8mm. The distance between the limit sensitive switches and
sensitive pitch on big mouth and small-mouth must be within 3-5mm. The distance between the
magnetic switch and magnetic steel used in limited welding must be within 5-8mm. And must pay
attention to the polarity of the magnetic steel in order to avoid to be not able to weld because of
inverted place. After every switches have been adjusted, it must be tightened by tap screw. No
looseness. In order to prevent the equipment damaged

6. All the fastening screws of other components must be checked regularly, no looseness of the
phenomenon, if the screws especially on the enlarge diameter reduction box and tilting fillet are not
tight, it would cause damage by malocclusion of gear wheel and rack.

7.The inside of the electric control cabinet must maintain clean, it should be proposed to use
compressed air to clear the dust one time every three months, when the two fan in the cabinet don’t
rotate, it should be repaired and replaced in time.

8.The cooling fan and cooling pump of the welding transformer should be inspected and maintain
regularly, there is no leak of the water and wind, , so as to avoid damaging the welding transformer.
according to different use circumstance, the dust and sludge on all the parts of the machine must be
clean up one time each half year.
