DODGE/JEEP 42RLE
MULTIPLE SOLENOID CIRCUIT AND PRESSURE SWITCH FAULTS
COMPLAINT: Some 2004-05 model Dodge Dakota, Durango, 300/Magnum, 2003-05 Jeep Liberty and
Wrangler vehicles equipped with the 42RLE transmission may exhibit a complaint of
multiple solenoid circuit faults including P0750 LR, P0755 2-4, P0760 OD, P0765 UD, and
P0846 2-4 PSW, P0871 OD PSW, P0841 LR PSW, which are rationality codes related to
pressure switches followed by limp mode.
CAUSE: The cause may be, moisture in the 10 pin solenoid harness connector as shown in Figure 1.
This moisture can cause corrosion in the terminals in the case connector and the harness
connector. Another cause may be a wiring problem between the TCM/PCM and the
transmission harness connector. Note: 04-05 model Liberty have had harness problems
between the TCM/PCM, with wire chaffing.
CORRECTION: To correct this complaint, locate the 10 pin connector, male and female connectors as shown
in Figures 1 and 2. Inspect them for corrosion. If there has been moisture/corrosion, install
the updated pig-tail as shown in service information. If the corrosion has affected the male
terminals in the solenoid pack, it will need to be replaced as well. If the connectors are free
from corrosion, refer to Figures 3 and 4 for the appropriate terminal identification for the
TCM/PCM and verify harness integrity to the 10 pin connector, replace wiring as needed.

remains the same as all previous 41TE and 42LE transaxles.
1.5 to 2.5 ohms for the solenoids and
270 to 330 ohms for the resistors.
