Task 5 2.

1 Identifying Communication Skills

Listening
Listening is an important skill as it allows you to take on board information and also
understand and listen to other people
Speaking
Speaking is a important skill as it allows you to speak to properly in a way that in
presentations and interviews, you can be heard and keep the interest of the
interviewer or people in the crowd
Reading
Having a good reading skill is important as it allows you to double check any errors in
work that you hand in to help get the best result in a bit of work for college or a CV for
getting a job. Double checking quality of writing is important
Writing
Good writing skills is very important as it can help you get better marks for any work
or if you write a CV then you make sure you don't go off the rails talking about stuff
that aren't important and off topic. Having good writing skills allows you to make a
coherent bit of writing that is easy to understand and shows a positive to employers
looking at your CV compared to someone's CV that is all over the place and has bad
spelling.
Non verbal
Non verbal communication is important because it shows who ever you are listening
to that you are interested in what they are saying and that you want to be there, if you
have arms folded and slouched then you are less interested than if you were
standing/sat up straight and making eye contact with the person speaking to you or
the person speaking to you.

Preparing for an interview
To prepare for an interview I would write down ideas for questions I could ask the
person interviewing so that I am prepared with the best questions that are good to
show interest in the job. Before I get to the interview, I would also want to practise the
questions and what you will say in front of a mirror using body language and
speaking skills. I would also use writing skills to make notes on the business to come
up with questions to ask and also have information on the business to show more
interest

Attending the interview


When at the interview, I will use non verbal communication to show that i am
interested and listening to what the person interviewing is saying. I will also use my
speaking skill to speak clearly and explain stuff. Listening skills is also a good skill
because the interviewer might ask you a question you are unprepared for and might
be completely confused or maybe they ask you questions about what they said
earlier in the interview that they quiz you on.

Preparing and delivering a presentation


I would need to prepare speeches and body language to make the presentation
engaging and structured. Also need to have a presentation that doesn't have too
many words that its boring but also doesn't have too many photos so that it still looks
professional.

Completing an application form


Having good writing skills is important so that the form isn't too wordy and is
understandable. Spelling and punctuation is using a good writing skill so that it is
checked and is making sense.

a) I would ask this because it shows that I am interested in learning about the
work that I will have to do and not just working there to get paid.

a) A follow up to ask to show that i am interested in staying at the company for a
while

a) Shows that you are planning a head a wondering what work and what the
schedule is you will have to follow when working there
4) Where do you see the company in five years?
a) Shows that you have an interest in the company and want to help the
business to get to the next goal.
