Unit 2: Urbanisation
Reading (task 5, page 24)
1. Reason
 Original task requests students discuss the effect of urbanisation with their partner.
 However, the original task have less attraction and participation.
 Therefore, I decided to change this task into a debate activity.
2. Time: 10 minutes
3. Method(s): Communicative language teaching
4. Teaching aids: textbook, PowerPoint slides, laptop, projector, lesson plan,…
5. Type of adaptation: Changing
Procedures:
Teacher Students
 Shows the requirement of the new task (Work in groups.  Pay attention to the new task requirement
Discuss about the advantages and disadvantages of the
urbanisation. Then debate with other group.)
 Asks a student to read the requirement  Read the requirement
 Divides the class into 2 groups  Listen carefully
 Shows and explains the rules:  Pay attention to the teacher
Work in groups
Time: 4 minutes
Discuss about the advantages and disadvantages of the
urbanisation
After 4 minutes, students from each group take turn to
debate with students from the other group  Demonstrate with the teacher when invited
 Models with a student  Answer the questions
 Asks ICQs  Do the task
 Asks the students to do the task  Debate with students from other group
 Invites students from each group to debate with each other  Listen to the teacher
 Provides feedback and corrects mistakes if necessary
