Note: If number of candidates registered for Wireman examination at any of the above centers are less than
25, then the candidates will be re-allotted to some other center and also if the total number of candidates
registered for Wireman examination at a particular center are greater than 120 (One Hundred and Twenty
only) then the candidates may be re-allotted to some other center at the discretion of the Secretary, State
Board of Technical Education and Training, TS., Hyderabad.

II. ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR:

Candidates satisfying the following rules and regulations are only eligible to appear for the
examination:

Wireman Certificate of Competency:

a) The candidate for admission to the Wireman Certificate of Competency Examination shall be a
person with four years of experience in the practice of Electrical Installation works. The experience
shall be certified by a firm of Licensed Electrical Contractor whose license is in force during that
period and counter signed by an Electrical Engineer not below the rank of Deputy Electrical
Inspector or Divisional Engineer in TS Transco/TS Genco/TS Discoms in the Electrical Inspectorate
Department.
b) He shall have completed age of 21 years on the 1st July 2022 for the examination to be held in the 1st
half of the year and shall not have completed the age of 60 years.

III. MODE OF EXAMINATIONS:

a) Examination for Wireman Certificate of Competency comprise the following:
1. Practical of 6 hours duration
2. Oral on the subject specified in the prescribed syllabus.

IV. HOW TO APPLY:
a) Application forms with instructions to candidates can be obtained www.sbtet.telangana.gov.in
b) Application form duly filled in and supported by documentary evidence should be submitted
to the concerned Principal of the examination center at which the candidate wants to appear for
the examination so as to reach him on or before the date prescribed in the Notification. The
filled in application shall be sent by Registered Post/hand over in person. The cover being
superscribed as “APPLICATION FOR WIREMAN EXAMINATION”.
c) Three recent pass-port size photographs are to be affixed as follows: One on the application
form, the second one on the Original Hall ticket and the third one on the Duplicate Hall Ticket
in the space provided. The Photographs are to be attested by Gazetted Officer of the
State/Central Government. The Signature of the Officer and the seal shall occupy partly on the
photograph and partly on the Hall Ticket/application form as the case may be.
d) The following certificate/documents are to be enclosed along with the application form:
The experience certificate submitted by the candidates as apprentices appearing for Wireman
Certificate of Competency Examination shall be obtained from the Licenced Electrical
Contractors whose licence is in force during that period or any other established industrial
units or firms or Public or Private undertakings (Xerox copy of the licence shall be enclosed).

1. A Crossed Demand draft of Rs. 1500/- for candidates appearing for Wireman examinations
drawn in favour of The Secretary, State Board of Technical Education & Training, TS.,
Hyderabad on any Scheduled Bank Payable at Hyderabad towards examination fee.
2. Original and Duplicate Hall Tickets duly filled in and affixed with photographs and
attested by Gazetted Officer.
3. Certificate of experience should be on reverse page of the application form issued by the
employer.
4. Attested true copy of any one of the following certificates in support of Date of Birth:
i. Certificate showing the Date of Birth from records of the School or College Certificate or
extract from the earlier admission records of the school in which he/she studied.
ii. Birth extract to be issued by the Office of the Registrar of Births & Deaths.
iii. Certificate of Age issued by Tahasildar or Deputy Tahasildar after due enquiry in the
matter.
iv. Doctor Certificate in proof of Age/Date of Birth issued by Government Doctor not less
than the rank of Civil Assistant Surgeon.
5. A self-addressed envelope with required postage of Rs. 30/- for dispatch of Hall-Ticket and
time table.

V. ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS FORMS:

The Principal of Polytechnic to whom the application is submitted reserves the right to
reject the application of any candidate if:
1. The application is incomplete.
2. Required certificates are not enclosed.
3. The candidate fails to satisfy the conditions of eligibility.
4. The candidate furnished false or incorrect information.
5. The information in the application is not clearly visible.
6. The application is received after the due date.

VI. HALL TICKETS & EXAMINATIONS:
After scrutinizing the applications, the concerned Principal of the Polytechnic will send Hall Tickets
to all the eligible candidates so as to reach them before the date of examination. In case any
candidate is not in receipt of Hall Ticket, he may contact the Principal of the concerned Polytechnic
personally two days earlier to the examination to find the actual position during the working hours.

The candidate may obtain the Duplicate Hall Ticket if he/she is eligible to appear on production of
an Identification certificate on payment of Rs. 100/- in the form of Demand Draft payable to the
Secretary, State Board of Technical Education & Training, Telangana, Hyderabad.

The detailed examination time table will be communicated by the Principals of the examination
centers along with the Hall Ticket.

VII. RESULTS OF EXAMINATIONS:

The result will be declared by the Chief Electrical Inspector to Government who will issue
Competency Certificates and permits to the successful candidates. Every care will be taken to avoid
errors in the valuation and tabulation of results. Hence, any request for revaluation and re-totaling
will not be entertained.

WIREMAN EXAMINATIONS

The examination for Wireman Certificate of Competency shall consist of two tests one Practical and the
other oral.
A. Practical Examination of 06 hours duration carrying 80 marks.
i. 02 hours test of 30 marks on Machine connections with starters etc., (A.C. Only)
ii. 04 hours test of 50 marks on wiring installation including marking of joints (Bare and Standard
conductors), Soldering and insulator binding etc.
B. ORAL test (local language) carrying 20 marks.
C. To pass the examination the candidate must secure at least 40/80 marks in Practical 10/20 marks in
Oral in the syllabus prescribed.

SYLLABUS
1. Elementary knowledge: Elementary Knowledge of Electric Pressure (volts), Electric current (Amperes),
Resistance (Ohm), Power (Watts) Energy (KWH & Watt – Hours), difference between A.C. and D.C.
electric conductors and insulators.
2. Instruments: To connect and read volt meters, ammeters, energy meters, multi meter, tong tester,
meggars and earth meggars. Use of Standard wire gauge, test lamps, line tester, bell and battery, to find
positive and negative for D.C. Phase and neutral for A.C.

3. Wiring: Domestic wiring with surface conduit, concealed conduit, and PVC casing and caping. Since
Phase and 3 Phase distribution. Type of wires used and their current carrying capacity insulation type.
Connection diagrams: distribution and fuse boards, for a model house with given lighting and power
points, connections of Fluorescent Lamp, M.V. & Neo Sign lamps, Fan regulators, domestic appliances
such as Electric Iron, Heaters, Refrigerators, Grinders etc., common faults in the above and their
remedies.
4. Industrial Wiring: Elementary Knowledge to connect D.C. Motors and starters A.C. Single Phase and 3
phase motors & their controlling switch gear equipment like switches, direct on-line starters, Star/Delta
starters, automatic starters, rotor resistance starters, and their operation & maintenance.
5. Methods of stringing of overhead lines, service wires, underground cables up to 650 V. cable joints
making straight and Tee joints in standard wires, soldering lugs on wires & cables Britannia, and
Western union joints in solid copper wires.
6. Generators: Knowledge of connections, operation and maintenance of A.C. Generators upto 15 K.W.
7. Earthing: General types & sizes and materials of earth leads, earth wires used in electrical installations
domestic and industrial. Each connection for domestic appliances and earth connections of metallic
frames of equipment such as motors, switches, starters, other electric apparatus & switch gear
equipment, knowledge of type & size of earth electrodes and construction & maintenance of earth pits.
Measurement of earth resistance and insulation resistance using meggar.
8. Safety: Safety procedures, shutdown procedures, Knowledge of the usage of safety appliances like
rubber gloves, rubber mat, safety belts, earth rods, danger Boards and firefighting equipment, line
testers.
9. Precautions: Precautions against the electric Shock and methods of treatment in case of person
suffering from electric shock.
