Kristan O'neal Cervantes wrote a journal reflecting on their understanding of self over 5 entries. By answering questions and providing insight statements, they were able to think deeply about who they are. The statement "No man’s knowledge here can go beyond his experience" by John Locke best captures their view that pain can change people. Through experiencing various challenges in life, they have become stronger, able to take negative aspects and convert them to love and happiness, similar to how the Sword of Gryffindor in Harry Potter absorbs what harms it to grow stronger.

Understanding ourselves is one of the problems people experience discrimination,
depression, disappointment, and stress. Throughout journals 1 to 5 answering questions and providing an understanding statement about myself made me think of what or who really am I. Since different perspective was discussed what I relate myself the most is John Locke’s statement “No man’s knowledge here can go beyond his experience.” The statement supports my life statement that pain can change people. After a total of 5 journal entries now I understand myself basing my knowledge on what I have been experiencing. A prove to my very first explanation of myself about depending on myself to what others will tell about me. How I described myself is depends on how others described me. Experiencing different negative situations in my life made me stronger, I can portray myself as the sword of Gryffindor from the Harry Potter books. Which the book is described as a Goblin-made sword that absorbs things that destroy such as rust or corrosion which will make it stronger. I am a man that absorbs all the negative aspects of life and converts them to a positive essential part of life which is love and happiness.
