Answer the following questions:

1. While there is no single definition for “mission,” how can we characterize it

based on Luke 10: 1-9? What do you think caused the shift of paradigm from an
ecclesio-centric view of mission to a theocentric one? (10 pts.)
Based on Luke 10: 1 – 9 mission is a responsibility. We can characterize it as
a call. If we are the missionaries our responsibility is to call others and listen to the
word of God. Fulfilling this mission as said to the word of God we are lambs
among the wolves. All missions are dangerous as we all know like military
missions but a mission that appointed by God, what make us lambs is the
distractions. We are focusing to those material things we wanted barely knowing
what we needed. The word of God wants us to realize that we should be
thankful in what we have and share to those who needed.
I think what caused the shift of paradigm from an ecclesio – centric to
theocentric is Jesus Himself. Jesus also has a mission to help people know God,
that makes Him the sacrament of God the Father. From a paradigm that they
do missions where God is acknowledged but not emphasized as source of the
mission to what we are now today as theocentric which God is our central of
focus. Jesus’ passion in the cross, miracles, and teachings became the bridge
for us people to truly believe and put God in the center of our lives.

2. Why is it that Incarnation is compared “pitching the tent” (cf. Exodus 40: 34-
38)? What is the implication of Incarnation to our understanding of sacrament
and Christian mission? (10 pts.)
Based on Exodus 40: 34-38, with the statements “Then the cloud covered
the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.” It portrays
the present of God. It is compared to the Incarnation the way of God’s divine
revelation. God slowly revealing Himself to us by His sacraments, apostles,
followers, goodness, and teachings. Jesus being the Son of God does not mean
He is half God and half man. Jesus is a perfect man He could be everything as
we say, compared to the “pitching the tent” God is fire. As the fire move, we
move. As the fire stops, we stop. It means throughout our journey we are
following as He take us wherever the right path is.
As we understand the sacrament, that it is the way God wield us for the
good and fulfill a Christian mission. For God to wield us for a Christian mission we
should first be an incarnation of God. Incarnation of God is when He became a
divine man, but it does not me should be Him. It is we need to be His image and
likeness or “kawangis.” We should embody God’s teaching and words; follow
the path He took and always choose the right thing. That all make us an
incarnation being a sacrament accomplishing a Christian mission.

3. How does the Lord’s Prayer (“Our Father”) describe the relationship between
Jesus and the Father? What is the implication of this relationship in doing our
mission? (10 pts.)
“Our Father, who art in heaven,” means Jesus is calling (Praying) to our
heavenly Father who lives in Heaven. He wants Jesus and we talk to Him like we
talk to our own father. “Hallowed be thy name;” it means that Jesus name is
holy as God the Father is. That needs to be respected and honored. “Thy
kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” I think it means that
when Jesus is done with His mission on Earth He will come to God’s Kingdom in
Heaven. As all of us will do the same when we are done with our missions here.
“Give us this day our daily bread;” All of us wishes from God, same as Jesus
wishes from His Father. We know that all we receive are from God, all things we
asked are from Him. “And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who
trespass against us;” Jesus’ mission is to encourage people to believe and be
with God. After His passion in the cross He asked God the Father forgiveness for
humans as they do not know what they are doing. The same with us we should
forgive those who sinned against us because God forgave us why don’t we.
“And lead us not into temptation” Jesus asked help from the Father when facing
the three temptations. Same as we do, our greatest temptation is ourselves, our
desire for our own good even it leads us the wrong way “but deliver us from
evil.” Devils always try to tempt us same as how a devil attempt to tempt Jesus,
but He managed to defeat them. Amen.
In doing and accomplishing our mission Lord’s prayer is the best call we
have. Upon completing the given task, we often ask for help from Jesus nor
God. Jesus is a sacrament of God as He embodied being a divine man so do,
we are. The greatest relation we have with God as great the incarnation of God
with us to be His sacrament to finish a Christian mission appointed to us.
