CHAPTER 1

• Title: EFFECT OF THE CURRENT SITUATION OF OUR COUNTRY TO MENTAL HEALTH

• Statement of the Problem: We need to avoid ever -increasing case, improve our knowledge to protect young
adults from suffering and lowered the standards of the society
• Significance of the study: Mental disease, often known as mental health problems, encompasses a broad
spectrum of disorders that impact your emotions, thought, and behavior. Depression, anxiety disorders,
schizophrenia, eating disorders, and addictive behaviors are all examples of mental disease. Most mental
problems have no known origin, but research suggests that a mix of factors such as genes, biology,
psychological trauma, and environmental stress may be involved. Cases of mental health are constantly
increasing in young adults, During the pandemic, the Department of Health estimates that at least 3.6
million Filipinos are dealing with mental health concerns, including as depression, substance use disorders
like alcoholism, and mood disorders like bipolar disorder. COVID-19 infection has been shown to have a
direct effect on a person's mental health. Most common of mental illness are anxiety for teenagers. The
mental health issue in our country looks like a joke a lot of adults think teenager shouldn’t have this kind of
problems because they are too young and they don’t have any responsibilities. Once they know their child
have a mental problem they will call it dramatic and it will make more worse the situation of their child.
The number one who cause our mental health problems is our family, they will make you feel like a burden
to them, they will increase their standards that their child needed to reach. And the society make it worse
they will discriminate between what you look like and what your physical appearance is. In the
Philippines, stigma against people with mental diseases is widespread, and there appears to be a lack of
sensitivity when discussing mental health issues. People with mental diseases are subjected to a variety of
forms of stigma.
