Situational Analysis
Interestingly, dropout rates correlate with high poverty rates, poor school attendance, poor
academic performance, grade retention(I.e., being held back) and disengagement from school. But it is
good to note that the school maintains its zero dropout rate through the years regardless of the presence of
all of these.

The vision, drive and personality of the leadership will affect enrolment. The quality of school
experience greatly influence the school leavers particularly the instruction quality and delivery style. We
cannot deny the fact that the quality of instruction in the classroom is an important factor in learners’
achievement except due to some unavoidable reasons. It always boils down that pupils’ academic
performance is affected by several factors such as learners’ learning skills, parental background, peer
influence, teachers’ quality and learning infrastructure.

The low transition rate of the school has been a concern for many years now. It could be attributed
to a number of reasons. For instance, school based factors persisted such as school rules, attitudes, the
curriculum, teachers, physical facilities and management practices does affect learners transition. In
addition, family size, birth order, gender, occupational aspirations, parental involvement or pupils own
attitudes towards education also have great effect on transition rate.
