1. Write a short paragraph, not less than 250 words, by choosing one of the following topic
sentences:
a. English has become an international language for three reasons.
b. Technology and Internet access have changed the ways people live and communicate
c. There are several advantages of virtual learning system for higher education.

2. After you write your paragraph, check to see if all the supporting sentences are related to
controlling idea in the topic sentence
3. Your concluding sentence should restate the topic or make prediction about it.
4. Use at least two phrases/expression to make coherence and logical order of the paragraph.
5. Before submitting, make sure on the format/indent, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling of
your paragraph

b. A college degree in English education program requires a knowledge of English contents and

3. Write a well-organized essay consisting of four paragraphs and not less than 300 words

1. Write a well-structured present narrative essay, not less than 400 words within four paragraphs,
by choosing one of the following topics:
a. My father/mother/grandmother, a hero of my life
b. My work life/campus life in a day
c. A story of my best friend

2. After you write your essay, check to see if all the story is in appropriate chronological order of
development. Remember to include time order signals to make the writing flows smoothly.
3. Use present tenses and at least four adverbials of frequency to sign your present narration
4. Before submitting, check on the format/indent, mechanics (punctuation, capitalization, and
spelling), and sentence structure and grammar of your essay
