ASSESSING WRITING

TEST INSTRUCTIONS:

A. A RECOUNT TEXT tells the readers about one story, action, or activity in the past. You
have to write a recount text. For this purpose, choose one of the following three topics for
your recount essay:
1. The most memorable experience back in your childhood (happy, funny, or romantic).
2. The most annoying experience back in your childhood.
3. The scariest experience back in your childhood.
B. Write a recount essay (400-450 words) with the complete generic structure (orientation,
sequence of events, and reorientation). The orientation mentions about who, when,
where, why, what, and how. The sequence of events mentions the chronological order of
your story. The reorientation mentions the summary or closing statement of your story.
Do not forget to use past tenses in your recount essay and include necessary conjunctions
to make your story clearer.

TEST INSTRUCTIONS:

A. A PROCEDURE TEXT tells the readers about the steps to perform/create something.
You have to write a procedure text. For this purpose, choose one of the following four
topics for your procedure text:
1. Information and Technology (IT) (e.g., how to write blogs)
2. Arts (e.g., how to make a painting with pointillist technique)
3. Your favorite food (e.g., how to bake a cheese cake)
4. Your favorite drink (e.g., how to make dalgona coffee)
B. Write a procedure text (150-200 words) with the complete generic structure (a title,
ingredients/materials and tools, and the steps). Use imperative verbs in your text and
include sequence and numbering to make the steps clear (for example, first, second,
finally).

Instruction of making descriptive text:

A. Choose one of the available topics for you to write a descriptive text:
1. Your online course experience during Covid-19 back then.
2. The most favorite place that you have ever been to on your holiday.
3. Animals
B. Write about 400-450 words length complete with introduction, 3 body paragraphs, and
conclusion. Do not forget to use simple present tense in your descriptive text. Once you
have finished writing, you can go back and revise it by checking for spelling and
grammar errors and make sure your text is clear and concise to understand.
