INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNCATION

At the end of the lesson student will be able to:
a. Define the importance of communication,
b. Value the elements of communication,
c. Apply verbal and non-verbal in communication.

B. Motivation
Today, we are going to have some fun by
having a game that you are all familiar.
But before that, you will be grouped into (The students will be group into 7)
seven.

Now that you are group into seven our game


will be called Message Relay. Do you know
how to play it? Yes ma’am. We will be passing the message that
you will be giving us and we will be passing it to
our group until the last person of our group and we
will deliver the message to you.

Since you know how to play the pass the
message. Here is the instruction. I need a
representative each group here in front. All
players should be facing the back while the
representative is in front memorizing the
message. There is two part of this game the
first one is message relying and the second
part is guess the action. When the
representative memorizes the message no
should look in front except if you are tap by
your group mates. Are you ready? Yes, Ma’am.

What is communication?

Communication is simply the act of transferring
information from one place to another. This is how
we communicate with others and it is also our
interaction in day to day.

Communication is a process by which
information is exchanged between individuals
through a common system of symbols, signs,
or behavior. Ms. Fernandez read the next
slide.
The word Communication derived from the latin
word “communis” that means to impart, To transit,
to make common.

now move on to its elements. Anyone from

The sender, receiver, message, channel, noise,
feedback.

The sender is the person who is trying to
communicate a message.
What is Receiver?

The receiver is the recipient of the message and
must translate the words into thoughts, process
the thoughts, and determine how to respond to
the sender.

It is what the sender sends to the receiver.

Channel is the medium used by the sender to send
the message to the receiver. This may be in-
person, via telephone, e-mail, text message,
written correspondence or a third-party.

Noise refers to interference that takes place during
the communication process. Both the sender and
receiver may be distracted by noise.

is Feedback?
Feedback is the process of determining if the
message has been properly received. This can be
initiated by the sender or receiver.

There are types of communication the first
one is the verbal communication and the next
one is non-verbal communication. What is
Verbal communication?

Communicating with words, written or spoken.
Verbal communication consists of speaking,
listening, writing and reading.

exchanging information between two or more
persons through written and oral words.

There are two types of verbal communication.

Let’s move on now to the non-verbal
communication. What is non-verbal

Facial expressions, Gestures, Body language and

Always remember that when we are
communication with others we need use
proper type of communication. If you are
communicating with speaking or written it is
called verbal but when you are communicating
using facial expression, body gestures, eye
contact it is called non-verbal. Is it clear?

In this activity, I will be grouping you into


seven. (Counting from 1-7)
Now that you are group may I have group one
please stand and be here in this side. Group 2
stand and go in that side. Group 3 stand and
go on that side. Group 4 stand and in that side.
Group 5 that side, Group 6 on that side and
lastly Group 7 in here.

So now here is the direction.
Using a concept map, each group will do a
language map pertaining to the languages that
you are using at in your day to day living. You
will be discussing by group on how you use
those language. For Example.
