Communication is the act of conveying information
Yesterday we discussed the nature of communication. from one entity to another.
Who can tell me the nature of communication?

C. Motivation
Pass the Message
Mechanics:
The class will be divided into three groups with equal
number of members. Leaders in each group will be
given a word/phrase which should be passed to
his/her members. The task of each member is to pass
what was whispered to him/her by his/her groupmate.
The last member should tell the teacher the
word/phrase. The first group to give the correct
answer is the winner. Sender is the source of the message.

What happened a while back is communication. In
order for the communication process to happen, there
are key elements involved in it.
That is what we will be discussing today.

The persons to whom we pass the message.
The next element is the message. Message is the
specific information that the sender sends.

During the game, what is considered to be the

that you need to come home early.
The phone.
In this situation, let us identify the elements of
communication process.
No, I would not receive the message.
Who is the sender?

What is the message? The cellphone is the channel.

Who is the receiver?

We told the teacher the message that we got.

How were you able to get the message? Is there any
instrument used for you to know what your mom
wants to tell you?

And what is that?

If you did not have a phone, do you think you would

be able to receive the message?
The last person to receive the message.
Now, the instruments used to deliver the message is
what we call Channel which refers to the means or (Answers may vary)

feedback. In the game that we played, how did the
teacher know that you received the right message?

Now we can see from that situation that a response

was needed for the teacher to know that you got the
right message. And this further entails that a response Sender, Message, Receiver, Channel, Feedback, and
from the receiver is necessary to complete the Noise
communication process.

Among your groupmates, who was tasked to give me
the feedback?

Now if you were texted by your mom to go home

early, what do you think would be your feedback?

During the game, was it difficult for you to deliver

the message?

What were the reasons for that?

Now those reasons that you have cited are what we
call Noises. In the communication process, noise
refers to any hindrance, distraction, or obstacle to
communication.

E. Generalization
To summarize the discussion, will you please
enumerate the components of communication process
that we have discussed?
Do you think it is important that you know the
components of communication process for an
effective oral communication?

IV. Enrichment Activity

Communication is significantly changing in society. People used to interact primarily face-to-
face. Today , much interaction takes place through written word, via text or social media. Given this,
how much information is incorrectly perceived? How often do misunderstandings occur? How can
this be solved? Brainstorm with your groupmates about these questions. After three minutes, share
with the class what you have talked about among your groups.

V. Evaluation
With your groupmates, prepare a skit showing the communication process for each given
situation. Make sure that you use the appropriate nonverbal cues to effectively convey your
thoughts. After each group performance, the other groups must be able to tell the components
involved in the performed skit. Below is the rubric for the presentation
