Understanding and Applying the KEEP Constructs


Assignments and Activities

Objectives for Module 3:


 TSW utilize the KEEP constructs to evaluate and provide feedback on a lesson plan and
accompanying video with 90% accuracy.
 TSW observe teaching practices identifying one best practice for each component of KEEP
construct 1.

Assignments and Activities

During this module you will be responsible for two assignments both involving the KEEP Constructs.
You will also be unwrapping or dissecting a lesson plan so that you can see what a TAP lesson plan looks
like with each of its components. It’s crucial to understand the KEEP Constructs as these are the
protocols you will be using to provide self-reflection on your Lesson Plan Videos through the TAP
Internship courses. During CI605, you will focus on KEEP constructs 1 and 4.

1) KEEP Resources

Please read the attached Construct 1 Documents (KEEP What is it?) and (KEEP Construct 1, pg. 1-
4). Look at the individual areas that are evaluated for each construct and the sources of evidence for
planning instruction based on the construct. 

2) Assignment #1: KEEP Construct 1 Discussion Board (25 Points)

After reading the documents in the KEEP Construct folder & observing in your school several
teachers in your school, complete the classroom discussion posting your responses to the
following questions:

● What did the teacher(s) do to plan instruction based on the learning and development
levels of all students? (Construct 1.1)
● How did the teacher (s) recognize and foster individual differences to establish a positive
classroom culture? (Construct 1.2)
● How did the teacher establish a classroom environment conducive to learning? (Construct
1.3)

You will make an initial post by September 19th @ 11:59 PM. Make these responses
well developed and a strong paragraph of 4-5 sentences. During the second week of the
module you are responsible for continuing a conversation with at least one other
classmate. Ask questions and engage in a discussion. Including your initial post, you
should have at least 5 total posts.

3) Assignment #2 – Unwrapping a Lesson Plan (25 Points)

It is time to start learning about the parts of a lesson and becoming familiar with the WSU
Lesson Plan template that will be used throughout the TAP Program. In this assignment you will
be looking at a completed lesson plan that was written by a former TAP student. You will be
dissecting or unwrapping the lesson by answering the questions on the attached assignment. I
have also included an attachment that explains the I DO, WE DO, YOU DO strategy of writing
an instructional sequence within a lesson. You will be watching a video of this lesson in the next
assignment.

4) Assignment #3 - Lesson Plan Video Analysis/KEEP assessment video practice (25 Points)

You will be reviewing a lesson plan and corresponding video, providing feedback using the
KEEP constructs as your guide. You will read the KEEP construct and use the document to
evaluate a lesson plan and the corresponding video. All documents can be found in the Video
Feedback Folder under course materials in Module 3.

Print off the KEEP Construct Document to have in front of you when viewing the video.
Download the feedback form, complete the form providing feedback on the constructs.

You must provide feedback/justification for your rating scales. Why did you give that rating and
what might you want to see in the future? In the event that there is something you do not
think you can evaluate properly from the video, then you may use a NA (not applicable)
BUT you must justify why you don’t believe you can evaluate that construct(s) and what
the teacher could do in the future to allow you to evaluate and provide feedback on the
construct.
