D. DESIGNING, PRESENTING AND REFLECTING ON INSTRUCTION

NB: Please note this was supposed to be the written assignment 3 which was changed to a quiz
on the 23rd of August 2022. Designing a lesson plan is a practical element of ISC3701, and
therefore it is an important part of your learning experience and Portfolio.
Instructions: (Planning a lesson) A lesson plan is a detailed description of a lesson which is prepared
before a teacher starts teaching. It covers the learning trajectory and course of action for each lesson and
acts as a comprehensive daily guide of what students are going to learn. It also gives insight into how it
will be taught. It's advisable to think about how a student's learning can be measured, as this shows how
useful the lesson was and what needs to be improved in future lessons.

Lesson plans vary based on each teacher's individual preference, the subject covered in a lesson, as well
as the needs of each student in the class. Planning a lesson is an effective tools to use in the classroom.
It makes the best use of class time and ensures that as much lesson time as possible is used to teach
new concepts and that teaching builds on students' prior knowledge and promotes meaningful discussion.
It gives teachers a detailed outline to follow and helps them to be even better teachers. It plays a crucial
role in the learning experience of students and determines how engaged they are in their subjects.
