Reflection Paper

I’ve been living in this country called the Philippines and here I am
just finished reading a poem written by Jose Rizal and the title of the
poem is My Last Farewell. The poem originally had no title, undated,
unsigned and was believed as Rizal’s last will because it was written on
the eve of his execution.
Rizal is an intelligent man and cared deeply for his country and
this poem was his last message to his fellow countrymen. Offering his
life was the most ideal way he could demonstrate his adoration for the
nation.
This poem is about the death of our national hero, Jose Rizal. We
all know that to die is not easy for us to do. We are not ready to leave
our loved ones especially to those who are very special to us.
But we can sacrifice ourselves for the sake of the others. Just like
Jose Rizal did, he sacrificed his own life for his countrymen.
While reading the poem, I keep on imagining a lot of imagery of
different place in the country that are really astonishing and realized,
that Philippines is really a beautiful country with good people who are
willing to sacrifice their life for its freedom.
I also have realized that we should love our country even more and
enjoy the freedom that our Filipino heroes have given to us for this
purpose why they have sacrificed their lives.
We should also treasure our country because we are lucky enough
for gaining it back from foreign people and we should not be afraid of
fighting for it ever, other country will have an interest on invading it
again.
As a Filipino, we should always put in mind that there is no greater
pleasure than sacrificing your own life for the sake of others and for the
sake of our country.
