1. Course Aims & Objectives : In this course, participants will learn to communicate in basic
French, pronounce French places, and read simple messages. It is a
beginner's course for those who have never learnt French. It
introduces basic grammar and communication skills in French. The
following content will be covered:
1) Greetings, self introduction
2) Asking for basic information, for example, name, nationality,
occupation, etc.
3) Useful vocabulary for daily life conversation
4) Basic sentence structure
5) Descriptions of simple situations
6) Basic French grammar, for example, verb conjugation, gender
agreement, prepositions and articles
7) How to write short messages
2. Intended Learning Outcomes : Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
1. communicative for immediate needs by using very brief
expressions;
2. manage to write in the most familiar, easily predictable
situations related to everyday needs and experiences; and
3. demonstrate comprehension in the main facts and some
supporting details in simple messages.

Students are required to have an attendance rate of 70% or above in each module.
