Assignment #3:

In Kant’s Philosophy, there is a relationship between acting morally and acting free will.
It says that it is the same thing. Freedom is closely linked to the notion of autonomy which
means we have the authority in ourselves which is the law itself. We are free on whatever we
want to do but we need to set our own parameter that means our freedom is not really absolute,
but for Kant’s acting freely and acting morally are the same thing. To act autonomously gives
us, the humans the special dignity that things and animals don’t have. As human, we are a
rational being and we know how to reason out unlike animals they do not know how to reason
out. Respecting this dignity requires us to treat others not as means to an end but as end in
themselves. Every actions that we choose determines our character means on how we show
ourselves to others determine on who we are, our freedom is not limited we just need to act
morally. Morality usually involves making a decision on among possible alternatives. Morality
does not exist if we do not have the freedom to choose. Because in that case, we would always
do what was fixed, and there would be no other option.
