The chopper is connected to a diode bridge rectifier supplied from a 220V, 3-phase, 50 Hz ac
main. The motor details are as follows.
Ra=0.7 Ohm, La=0.0019 H, Kb = 5.2 V/rad/sec, fsw=3 KHz.
The motor is running at 300 rpm with 59% duty cycle in the chopper. Determine the average
current from steady state current waveform and the electromagnetic torque produced in the
motor. Compare these results with those obtained by averaging method.

50 Hz. A star-delta connected transformer is used to feed the armature so that motor terminal

(i) Motor torque for alpha = 50 degree and speed = 700 rpm.
(ii) Motor speed for alpha = 50 degree and torque = 15 N-m.

0.08 ohm. It is fed from a single phase fully controlled rectifier with an ac source voltage of
230V, 50 Hz. Assuming continuous conduction, calculate:
(i) Firing angle for rated motor torque and 700 rpm
(ii) Firing angle for rated motor torque and - 400 rpm speed
(iii) Motor speed for alpha = 130 degree and rated torque.

(a) Resistance to be placed in armature circuit to limit braking current to twice the full load
value.

measurement, a current sensor is used whose gain is unity and Band Width is 200 kHz. Speed
sensor has unity gain with Band Width of 100 Hz. Switching frequency of the dc-dc converter is
