Leadership: Task to Lead Followers in Achieving Their Goals

An effective leadership can be shown on the effectiveness of actions done by the

followers in reaching out their goals. Effective leaders show their subordinates the pathway they
must to take help them achieve their work goals (Cabrera, Altarejos, & Benjamin, 2016).
Adapting this action that will be done by the leaders can help their followers to gain directions
which contain information, support and other resources. Their followers will serve these
directions as a key tool on what actions to take and where to implement them.

Leaders should attain acknowledgement from their followers in order to achieve their
task which is to lead them. Even though effective leaders can provide effective leadership in
achieving their goals, some factors won’t be avoided by them that lead to gain lack of
acknowledgement by their followers. Thus, understanding different theories of leadership which
explains attributes that will benefit effective leaders to resolve their problems which will help
them not only to gain acknowledgement from their followers who will they lead in achieving
their goals, but also to develop and evolve themselves.

Leading followers is a hard task for it allows their eagerness to do actions in using the
key tool directions said by the leader. Based on the theory develop by Hersey, Paul and
Blanchard, Kenneth, the style of leadership depends on the level of readiness of the followers. In
which readiness is the extent to which followers have ability and willingness to accomplish a
specific task. Ability is the knowledge, experience, and skill that an individual possesses to do
the job and is call job readiness. While willingness is the motivation and commitment required to
accomplish a given task. (Juneja, 2019).

Leaders then must do effective and efficient actions of plan in order to lead their
followers. There are factors in which they should focus on upon bringing up the willingness of
their followers to be lead. Having a good foundation of relationship with followers makes a
leader to get more connected in knowing their attitudes and behavior. Upon knowing these traits
from followers, leaders can able to do actions that will lead them to be trusted and liked by them.
Also, building up a good set of directions that has been clearly defined and the extent to which it
can be carried out by detailed details.

Moreover, leaders who have a charismatic personality can able to influence their
followers whom they leading. Charismatic leaders pertain to leaders who are self-confident,
enthusiastic, and sensitive to both environmental constraints and subordinates’ needs.
Charismatic leaders take risks to achieve their vision, and have the ability to communicate well-
verbally or nonverbally-through their behavior, among others. Charismatic leadership collate
with high levels of performance and satisfaction among followers. (Cabrera, Altarejos, &
Benjamin, Modern Leadership Views, 2016). Each leader has their own charisma that can inspire
their followers which can encourage them to be lead. Through this charisma an effective
leadership will be more occurred that will lead to achieve goals.

These said theories will give benefits to those leaders whose main task is to lead their
followers in favor to achieve their goals. Though each theory focuses on their own particular
concept, mixing them together and adapting it to oneself can enable to develop and evolve
effective leaders who can give an effective leadership to their followers. The only challenge that
can be faced during adapting the said effective leadership of a leader is its effectiveness upon
reaching their goals. Leading their followers with set of directions on what actions to take and
will be guided in which pathway to take those actions.
