MANDATORY WEARING OF FACE SHIELD IN THE PHILIPPINES

For the first year of pandemic, the government health department required us to wear
personal protective equipment also known as “PPE”. This protocol helps us to lessen the
number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as we keep ourselves to be protected even going
outside though there are some events that the governments itself lift-up the usage of face
shields and bringing it back again. In the second year, the present, the governments completely
lift-up the usage of face shield with the reason of having lower cases of COVID-19 and creation
of vaccines.

The emergence of different vaccine for COVID-19 gave hope to bring back the life of our
fellow Filipino into normal but things won’t always go right as there are new COVID variants
that might come to our country. The mandatory protocol to wear face shield must still be
required in our country. It will not be enough to just have a complete dose of vaccine and
wearing of face mask especially when going in public places. In this new normal, these threats
(new COVID variants) must not be set aside because it will make our situation worse again. As
the health experts studies and explore these threats in our country, it will be helpful for us to be
fully protected as we wear face shield. In situations like whenever we will go on a place with a
high risk of variant, crowded places, and chances to have a close contact, this mandatory
protocol will be a necessity in our day-to-day living because it will not only help you from
being protected but also the other people that you’re living with. Additionally, this can also
give assurance for those people that you will be communicating where you can assure to have a
low chance in transmitting such current COVID variant or even the new or upcoming ones.

Even though we will start to make things normal, just like an armor, a face shield will
serve as our physical shield to prevent the spread of virus .As what we said, “Prevention is
better than cure” with this simple quotation, wearing personal protective equipment such as
face shield can help us to prevent these new or upcoming threats as early as possible than being
careless that will lead to be infected and may repeat the history again.
