Reflection Paper about COVID – 19 Vaccines

It has been over a year since the entire world startled by the unexpected Corona virus, or

widely known as “Covid – 19”. Many people neglected the news in the beginning of its spread,

thinking that it was just a simple cough and colds, however, as the amount of infected people

arose in the following months and the number of deaths due to the virus had been confirmed and

rapidly doubling in many areas, their belief became a nightmare in a matter of few days.

It was in March when the president of the Philippines announced lockdown in multiple

places of the country. People, especially those who live below the poverty line, experienced and

still experiencing severe income loss due to no job opportunities because of the lock down,

which then resulted to economic deprivation. This lockdown has been happening for over a year

now and it has been negatively affecting most of the sectors in every country, that is why an

urgent and effective action is needed. Nothing is going to be more effective than having

vaccines. People need to get vaccinated.

The videos I watched tackled about how vaccines are produced and effective in this kind

of situation. They help our bodies develop immunity without us having to get the illness;

vaccines are designed to protect us from getting a certain sickness which does not only secure

our holistic health and the country’s overall sectors, but it also secures the future generation.

People need to get vaccinated because safety physical protocols—wearing face masks and

shields, and physical distancing) are not enough to fight the virus. We need to stop the spread of

the virus not to hide from the it.

Vaccine has been used as early as in 17th century to treat several illnesses like cholera,

tuberculosis, chicken pox, and more; it is entirely good although it is also understandable that

several Filipinos oppose in its usage, most probably because of the dengvaxia issue where

numerous people got harmed and worse, died. For that reason, concerned institutions must do

their best to educate and prove the civilians that being vaccinated is safe and would not cause

any harm in the long run.

We need to get vaccinated as soon as possible to revive every loss we had in the past

year. Vaccines can save millions of lives. Getting vaccinated is the only way to instantly stop the

spread of the virus.
