during covid-19
The COVID-19 has resulted in schools shut all across the world.
Globally, over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom. As a
result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive
rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and
on digital platforms.
Research suggests that online learning has been shown to
increase retention of information, and take less time, meaning the
changes coronavirus have caused might be here to stay.
The economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic is devastating: tens of millions of
people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty, while the number of undernourished people,
currently estimated at nearly 690 million, could increase by up to 132 million by the end of the
year.
Get vaccinated as soon as it’s your turn and follow local guidance on vaccination.
Keep physical distance of at least 1 meter from others, even if they don’t appear to be sick. Avoid
crowds and close contact.
Wear a properly fitted mask when physical distancing is not possible and in poorly ventilated
settings.
Clean your hands frequently with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
Cover your mouth and nose with a bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of
used tissues immediately and clean hands regularly.
If you develop symptoms or test positive for COVID-19, self-isolate until you recover.
Right now, there is a large focus on the urgent need to
develop a vaccine for COVID-19, the disease caused by
the novel corona virus that currently has no
approved treatment or immunization. This has brought an
awareness to vaccine research and development, and just
how important it is more than ever.
