This list of documents is relevant only for your visa application and appointment.

You will need to collect the following documents:

• Your current passport (also residence permit if applying from a country that you are
not a national of)
• CAS letter
• Qualifications stated on your CAS (transcript or certificate that you used to obtain
the offer from the university)
• IELTS academic UKVI certificate (if required from the university)
• Receipts (in case of the deposit toward the tuition fees does not reflect on the Cas)
• Proof of finances (personal bank statements, bank letters, official financial
sponsorship letters, official loan letters)
• Financial Guarantee letter (if you are using your parents’ account)
• Birth certificate (only if you are using your parents’ account to prove your
relationship with your parent)
• Under 18 consent form (signed by both parents)
• Translations (if any document is not in English, the original must be accompanied by
a full translation)
• PDF of the visa application from the UKVI website
• IHS payment confirmation (this will be part of the online Visa application)

Additional:

• Tuberculosis test (if you’re from a country where you have to take the test) – check

• ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) certificate (if required) – check

FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS

There are specific Home Office requirements for financial evidence. You must submit
evidence that meets these requirements normally showing money has been held for 28
consecutive days and the evidence dated no more than 31 days old.

The key documents that are accepted by the Home Office include:
• Personal bank statements
• Letter from the bank
• Certificates of deposit
• Letter from an official financial sponsor
• Letter from a regulated financial institution confirming a loan.

How the amount of money is calculated:

(University fees + living expenses) minus any deposit paid or scholarship = The total
amount of money to be shown on your bank statement.

Living expenses for universities in London: £ 12.006

Living expenses for universities outside London: £ 9.207
(1.023 x 9)

***The TOTAL amount calculated above needs to be present every single day of the 28-
day statement. This means the balance column cannot show a sum below this at any
point of the statement. Please note that the more you input into your account, the
better***
Bank statement/ bank letter

1. You must use your personal current or savings account. Kindly note, that a business
account is not accepted.
2. The money you are required to show can be in your bank account (only if over 18
years old) or your parents’ account.
3. Any money used for course fees and living costs must be in your or your parents’
account for a consecutive period of 28 days.
4. 28 days will be counted back from the closing balance and the closing balance can’t
be more than 31 days old on the date of the visa appointment.
5. Bank statement or letter must be on official letterhead paper, with a Logo or bank
stamp.
6. Statement must clearly state the currency of the account (the account can be in any
currency, but to ensure that the closing balance meets the minimum level required,
please use the OANDA currency converter to convert funds into pound sterling.
7. The Bank statement must clearly show a Balance column. If there is no Balance
column then you will need to provide a supporting letter from the bank that states, the
lowest amount of money you have had in the account for the past 28 days.
8. The name written on the statement must match your own name or your parent’s name
(the spelling must be the same as on your passport and birth certificate).
9. Movement in the account is preferable, therefore, make sure that the statement shows
money in or out during the month (even 1-2 transactions)
10. Statement must be fully in English. If not, translation is required. There are specific
requirements for translations, please ensure you follow them.

If you are relying on your parent’s funds you will also need to include the following:
• Letter of consent from your parents
The letter must state that your parents will cover your studies and living expenses while
you study. This letter must be printed and signed by parents.
• Your birth certificate
A birth certificate is required to prove the relationship between you and your parents.
Make sure the names in the birth certificate and bank account are the same. You must
present the original birth certificate and the translation if it is not in English.
The translation must contain:
• date of the translation
• translator or translation company’s details
• full name and signature of the translator
• sentence confirming it is a true and accurate translation of the original document
Certificate of deposit

This is a certificate issued by a bank to confirm that you or your parent have deposited a
specific amount of money. The certificates will be accepted if:

1. The money deposited has been in the account for at least 28 consecutive days from
the certificate issue date.
2. Certificate of deposit issued no more than 31 days before the date of the visa
application.
3. Certificates must include:
• your or your parent’s name same as in the passport
• the bank name and logo
• the account number
• the amount of money available
• the funds can be accessed at any time

Letter from an official financial sponsor

Only certain organisations can provide official financial sponsorship for a student visa
application. These are:
• students home government
• a UK government
• a university
• a UK independent school
• An international company
• An international organisation.

The letter should be official letter-headed paper or the stationery of the organisation and
must:
• include the name and contact details of the financial sponsor (the company logo)
• include the date of the letter
• include the student’s name
• include the dates and length of sponsorship
• include a statement that the official sponsor will cover all the tuition fees and living
costs
• include the official stamp of the organisation.
Official loan letter

If you wish to use a loan letter as evidence of your funds this letter must confirm that the loan
is provided by either the relevant government or a government-sponsored student loan
company or an academic or educational loan scheme.
The letter should confirm:
• your name (you cannot use a loan letter in a parent’s name)
• the date (the letter must be less than 6 months old on the date that you apply)
• the financial institution’s name and logo
• the amount of money available as a loan
• confirmation that the funds will be available to you directly before you travel to the
UK, or paid directly to the University before you begin your course
• confirmation that there are no conditions placed on the release of the funds other than
your visa application is successful.
The loan funds can alternatively be paid directly to the University for tuition fees. If so,
the loan letter must contain all the information stated above but also confirm that the
funds will be paid directly to the University to cover tuition fees before you travel to the
UK and that the remaining amount for living expenses will be paid directly to you before
you travel to the UK.

BRP – Biometric residence permit

Once you arrive in the UK, you must usually collect your BRP from either your education
provider (if you have been given an ACL code by your university) or a nominated post Office
depending on the information you put in your visa application. You must normally collect
your BRP before the vignette sticker in your travel document expires or within 10 days of
arriving in the UK, whichever is later.
