Cycling can be one of the cheapest and quickest ways to get around, and keeps you
fit. If you're new to cycling please take a look at the video Welcome to Cycling in
Cambridge produced by CamCycle. Below is some further information to help you get
cycling.

Getting a bike There are lots of places to buy or hire a bike, and we’ve agreed
discounts with these stores in Cambridge and Chelmsford. Our
staff can save up to 48% by purchasing a cycle and equipment
from our Cycle to Work Scheme partner Cycle Solutions.

Safe cycling See CamCycle’s guide to safe and considerate cycling in

Cambridge, which is useful wherever you’re cycling.

Cycle routes See these cycle maps for Cambridge, Chelmsford and
Peterborough.

Cycle parking We have over 2,000 spaces for cycle parking on our campuses –
see the campus map on the ARU app for exact locations.

Bike Watch out for our free Dr Bike maintenance sessions, usually
maintenance scheduled once a term in Cambridge and Chelmsford, by
signing up to ARUgreen. We also have 3 bike maintenance
stations with pumps and tools located at Ruskin and Compass
House in Cambridge, and Telecoms in Chelmsford – see the
campus map on the ARU app for exact locations.

Cycle security Reduce the chances of your bike being stolen, or improve the
chances of getting it back if it is, by following this advice from
the Cambridgeshire Police and Essex Police.

Cycle lockers We have cycle lockers on our Chelmsford campus for the
storage of cycling equipment or clothing. Please contact our
helpdesk to check availability and then complete an application
form.
