Descriptive Phase (Clinical Script) – your narrative: What happened?
Today in the antenatal simulation lab I was the secondary nurse and I was
responsible for communication with the family members and during the simulation I
noticed the mother in low was aggressive with the client and she was telling her if you
deliver another girl I will make my son to divorce you and the client was crying after
listening to the talk of mother in low and I told the mother in low that you shouldn’t tell
her like that and you should deal with her quietly to avoid getting her into anxiety and
that will affect on the fetus health and my talk was firm but the client’s culture didn’t
accept that and the clinical instructor advised me to use a good manners of
communication with the family members to solve the conflict in the situation.

 The article discussed the good manners that can help the nursing student to
over come the incivility situations with the client or the family members. The
nursing student should be educated appropriately to be able to deal with such
situation to positive reassure the family members and to convince them with
his ideas or his intervention. Teaching-learning strategies and educators’
control over his class should not be ignored as an effective way of dealing with
incivility. Educators and managers working in nursing fields can use the results
of this study to deal with such behaviors. There are many stratiges to control
such situation like:
 Freedom in classroom.
 Appropriative decision-making.
 Authority.
 Training through role-modeling.
 Friendship strategy.
  Teaching-learning strategy.
 Unification of educators regarding incivility management.
 Self-reflection.
 Interactive educational environment.

Critical / Emancipatory Phase: What would you do next time if you faced the same situation?

In the next simulation in the next visit for the client I will use the good manners with
the family members and I will the instructions that the clinical instructor gave to me to
be able to solve such situation.
