I'm Valentina (@valentina.vee), a director and cinematographer.

Born in Kazakhstan and raised in Silicon Valley, I'm now based in

LA, working on projects for screens both big and small. I have a

passion for teaching what I know to budding filmmakers and

helping them gain the skills that will set them apart from the crowd.

I'm a Resident Pro for Aputure and have worked with clients like

Adobe, AT&T, Sony, YouTube, National Geographic, and Nike.

interviews, this course is going to help get you there. Learn
everything from gear to sound to world-class technique—here’s
all the knowledge you need to plan, film, and edit a pro-level
interview from start to finish.

I’ll walk you through the structure of the lesson and give you all
the info you need to dive in.
section 2: Interview Types & Shooting

Start by learning about two main types of interviews: hosted and
non-hosted. You’ll learn the core differences, and when you should
use each. Then, I’ll break it down further into static vs. moving
interviews, and go over shooting angles and media training.
section 3: Gear, B-Roll, Finding a
L o c a t i o n , a n d A u d i o ( 6 P a r t s )
S e c t i o n 6 : E d i t i n g Y o u r I n t e r v i e w
In this section you’ll go through the gear needed to shoot
interviews. From solo shoots to having a small crew, I will walk
you through what I’ve used on hundreds of shoots. This section
also teaches how to shoot effective b-roll, how to select a
location that fits your interview’s style and mood, and how to
capture clear audio.

S e c t i o n 4 : R e s e a r c h i n g & P r e p a r a t i o n

Preparing the content of the interview is crucial for a smooth
scene on shoot day. I’ll show you how to research your guests
and prepare them in advance in order to set the stage for success.
I’ll also walks you through lighting, backdrops, ambient noise—in
this segment, learn how to create a space that will let your
interview shine.
S e c t i o n 5 : H o w t o C o n d u c t a n I n t e r v i e w
Show time! This section is all about what happens once the
cameras start rolling, and how you conduct effective, professional
interviews for any project. Learn how to guide your subjects,
break the ice, reframe, and evoke emotion.
Time to bring it all together. We’ll deep-dive into the editing
process. Learn skills like timing, syncing footage, rearranging
sequences, and adding sound effects.
Section 7: Conclusion
I’ll sign off with some final thoughts.
